These are nice sturdy studs but they will not fit through the hole of a 50 cal can. You will need to bore out a larger hole for these to fit through. If you bore out too big of a hole, your lock may fit through the hole and defeat the purpose of securing the box. However, you can use the washer that is provided, as you would with the 30 cal can, and it will secure the box as you intended.

I have a bunch of ammo cans from harbor freight I wanted locked because I have kids. These work great. If your using the 50 cal harbor freight cans like me you'll have to do a extra step so I suggest having a step bit as well. As my ammo supply grows I'll buy more of these for sure.

When it comes to this item I truly like it especially if you have a ammo can you can actually lock it you can use that I'm okay also to put your weapon away and your bullets so no children can get to it that's one of the best things that I like about it I also bought extra cans so I can use them to put tools in them and specific tools that I don't want nobody to touch and relax a very well and holds it nice and tight and nobody can get to it when when situation for me

It’s the perfect system to lock and MOC. However on a 50 caliber ammo can you’ll have to drill the hole on the lever out a little more.For the 30 caliber ammo cans it has a washer for the larger hole on the liver.

A simple stencil or something would have been a big help. Used my Rotary Tool to enlarge hole on box hinge-be able to close & secure with Lock.

It claims to be compatible with 50 Cal metal cans but the pin is too large for the hole (see photos). Otherwise it looks like a decent product.
