After install, turn on to "burn-in" with windows and doors open. At minimum turn on kitchen venting if your vents to outside. The Smoke and Fumes from the Element Cal-rod and especially from the Steel support will send you packing. It can sicken you if you inhale it to long. BEWARE. Outside of that it did the job. Let's hope it last the 8 years the old one did.

This was an easy install however the screw holes to secure it to the bottom of the oven did not line up with the ovens elements previous holes. I used a self tapping screw to make new holes in the oven bottom that line up with this element. It is also not squared. It angles to the side a bit. It works like a gem though! I made a beautiful chicken casserole tonight. I will take a few needed adjustments for the $100 discount.

Went without an oven for a long time. Finally found the replacement part number called home depot and maytag. They wanted to charge so much money for it and they didn't have it in stock had to wait for it to ship. Amazon to the rescue. Literally 100 cheaper. Came the next day. Plug and play and works great! A 24 year old oven works like brand new again just in time for the holidays.

The original heating element burned out violently after about 15 years of use on our Maytag oven. This part looks identical and installed with minimal fuss. My wife says the oven is warming up quicker now, and is baking evenly. Happy wife, Happy life! If I get even half the life out of this element, I'll consider it money well spent.EDIT: 9 months later this element failed. Very disappointed. We decided to purchase a new oven.

Our lower baking element went out and was sparking because a piece of it just straight broke from old age. Looking at Whirlpools site it was over 100 bucks to get this part, which is ridiculous. Not to mention how much it would cost to get someone to install it. All I had to do was remove a few screws and pull out the oven a bit to get behind it to ensure the connections were all good. It smelled a bit on the first use, but that was expected. Otherwise, still working great, saved us a lot of money.
