Difficulty: EASY! Even for non-experienced. The only complication would be if the drain pipe did not have a hole. Even then, If you have a drill and have used it, It is an easy repair/installation.When a plumber originally installed my reverse osmosis purifier, he used a copper self tapping saddle clamp on a 1 1/2" plastic drain. I noticed it was leaking. This is not a pressurized fitting, just a drain. So I ordered this plastic saddle to go onto a plastic drain pipe. Perfect! To install this saddle (it comes with no instructions): Remove the center hole of the seal and stick the seal over the whole on the inside of the saddle. Put the saddle around the drain pipe and finger tighten the screws. If you already have a hole drilled in the drain pipe from a previous fitting, align the saddle with the hole in the drain pipe. Use something pointy like a narrow straw or skewer from a kitchen drawer. I used a carpenter's nail set punch tool. Once the valve in the saddle is aligned with the hole in the drain pipe, use a standard #2 Phillips screwdriver to tighten the screws of the saddle. If you do need to drill into a plastic pipe it will be quick, so be gentle. Then follow the alignment procedure above. If you have a copper pipe, you can still drill the 1/4" hole, it's just a little slower. This saddle provides a very large seal. So even slight imperfections -- like the slightly out of round plastic drain (from over tightening a copper saddle onto it) to the stamped manufacturer seal on the drain -- were no problem. I do not like quick connects, but in this case, because there is no hydraulic pressure on the drain, it was not a problem.Cautions: To make sure the quick connect seals, use a box cutter (with a fairly new blade) and make a sharp 90 degree cut across the tubing. I sat the tubing on a cutting board to do this. This ensures a flush seating of the tube to the quick connect and guarantees a good seal. A crooked end on the tubing could cause a leak.
