These are not heavy snare wires. The stock Ludwig or Gibraltar 20 strand wires are definitely thicker wires. These are more like the Puresound concert wires, which if not careful can be damaged easily. Not impressed with these, went back to the stock wires.

Perfect for anyone who wants more shell sound and less sympathy buzz. I don't hear less snare wires, just less buzz and more resonance. Get to know less and you'll know more.

I love Ludwig 12 wire strands!!! I like to hear the sound of the drum more than, the snare buzz!!! The wires are thick and strong!!! Made top notch!!! Made for quick response!!! Ludwig makes all different types of wire strands!!!

Perfect Snare Wire's for vintage Drums with narrow & deep snare beds like most pre 1950's Wood & NOB Drums, such as Ludwig Black Beauty's, Leedy, Slingerland, WFL etc.) Aside from Slingerland Radio King's the snare beds on most vintage drums we're designed to be used with 12 strand Snare Wires, anything over that just creates too much sympathetic snare noise ...these are also good if you want more of the shell sound to come thru and/or less of a harsh snare sound...and also makes for better low volume playing if needed, even on modern drums!
