I never was sure this thermometer was correct. It always said my temp was lower than 98.6. Also quit working after about a dozen uses. Maybe the battery was bad. Thought about trying to return it, but just threw it out.

I needed a replacement thermometer as my last digital thermometer was 20 years old, and the battery was dead, and I could not find a replacement battery. When I did find a replacement, battery cost more than replacing the entire unit with something much faster and easier to read. I do like the larger screen and the larger size. It’s much easier for my older hands to work with and for my older eyes.

I always try to keep one of these around. I bought one many years ago and lost it during a move. I just recently got another one because it’s a great product.

I am a veterinary technician and I bought this for the quick results. This has worked well for those unruly animals that don't appreciate having their temperature taken back there.

It doesn't light up and it takes longer than advertised.

The flex tip is very comfortable. It is adequate as a fever thermometer. I was trying to use it for basal temperature readings, but it doesn't seem terribly accurate. If the room is cold, I have to take a 2nd reading or warm up the thermometer in my hand for a second or too. Otherwise it will give a low reading.

I bought this thermometer after my old cheap-o CVS one finally bit the dust and I needed one to make sure I wasn't getting an infection because I had just had an invasive medical procedure. As always, Amazon's service was top-notch.The thermometer is rubberized and has a flexible tip. It's water-resistant, so it's made to be submerged in water for a thorough cleaning - a definite plus. It also conveniently has a backlit display. The memory recall is a neat function as well.HOWEVER, I noticed that this thermometer kept giving me suspiciously low readings. I would take my temperature first thing in the morning to get a basal temperature, and it would say that I was 96.6 degrees. Later on the same day, when I should be at my temperature peak (which is almost always 98.6 degrees for me), it would read somewhere in the 97 degree range. After a while, I just got fed up with it and went out and bought a at the local Rite Aid to see if I was going crazy or the Mabis thermometer was just really off. After taking readings together for a few days, I have all the evidence I need: the Mabis thermometer always reads a good 0.8-1.2 degrees lower than the Vick's thermometer, which displays temperatures that "make sense." This is unacceptable, but unfortunately I can't return it because of the nature of the product. It will be going in the trash. Don't make the same mistake I did - avoid this thermometer at all costs!EDIT 4/3/2010:I sent the thermometer back to Mabis healthcare under warranty because the readings were much more inaccurate than the given error rate of ±0.2°F as listed in the thermometer's literature. I received a new replacement thermometer quickly (in 10 days) via UPS from Mabis, but it too has the same low reading problem that the original thermometer had. I commend Mabis on their excellent customer service, but I remain dissatisfied with the inaccuracy of the thermometer. The fact that both of the thermometers had low temperature readings tells me that this is likely a fundamental flaw with this type of thermometer and that it isn't just a fluke.Again, avoid this one at all costs!
