I was really eager to get a compact laser level for hanging wall décor, and this one seemed perfect. It’s incredibly compact, comes with its own case, and even included two AAA batteries, making it ready to use right out of the box—or so I thought. The operation is straightforward: just turn it on, and the laser appears. There are two bubbles on the front to help you level both vertically and horizontally, which makes it easy to check for accuracy. There’s a magnet on the back that’s supposed to help by sticking it to metal surfaces so you can project the laser. Unfortunately, the laser projects from the side rather than the front. This means if I attach it to a flat metal surface on the wall, the laser either points at the ceiling or the floor, which doesn’t help for wall hangings directly in front of me.Because of this design, I realized I’ll need a tripod—which I don’t have yet. For now, I have to hold it manually, leveling it using the bubbles, and have someone else hammer in the nail. Once I get a tripod, it should make the process easier.

Not sure how the magnet will ever be useful if using around home. I attach it to a tripod instead. Functional handy tool

I'm a big fan of laser levels but this makes it so much easier to have the precision of a laser with the usefulness of a torpedo level. It's been a great tool to keep with me for installations. I can get accurate markings without setting up my larger laser level with the tripod. I still use the larger level when needed but I try to do as much as I can with this smaller one to save time.

TLDR: Good laser level that helps with big projects! Love that it’s so bright and easy to use. Just a simple touch of a button and you have what you need to make sure you hang paintings straight, or for any other project where you need to make sure the angle is correct. We are even using this for our projector, to make sure the projector sits straight, to watch movies or even as a guide for art murals etc! This also lights up where the bubbles are so you can see that it’s on a flat surface therefore making sure it is still accurate. It even comes with its own nice rugged case! Really nice laser level for the money and worth the buy!

Just as a level -- this is a reasonably nice one. Well-machined and all that, nice weight that feels good in your hand and is easy to work with. I love the backlights on the bubbles, very handy. And of course the ability to mount it magnetically can be very useful in many situations. This is probably going to become my new go-to level of this size.As far as the laser goes, it seems fine. You press the button and it comes on. The only actual real-world USE for one I've had, it was daylight in bright sun, and I could not see the laser well enough to be useful. But I imagine that would be true of pretty much any such device, unless it was specially designed for daylight or something. I could see it fine indoors, though I will say, even there, the lines are a bit more thin and faint than I might prefer. But they'll do the job.

Item Reviewed: Magnetic Laser Level with 90°/180° BubblesPros:Excellent carrying caseGood constructionBacklit leveling bubbles!Simple operationTripod mount capableBrightCons:Reliance on AAA batteriesCannot turn off one axisI am a sucker for tools that come with their own cases, and this laser level comes with a nice case. [insert scene from Shrek where Donkey says, "That's a nice boulder."] That's a nice case. The level itself is surprisingly well designed and built. I was expecting a cheap composite body, but no, it's actually aluminum with plastic front and back caps. One simple, but infinitely useful design choice was to backlight the bubble levels. And you can choose if one or both are lit to give you a quick at-a-glance focus for leveling. There is also a threaded socket to use a tripod mount, adding additional versatility alongside the magnet.Functionally the laser is appropriately bright within about 15-20ft, as expected via the product description. Despite all the functionality packed into this little package, the one thing I am disappointed in is that I cannot turn one of the axis off; both the x and y axis' are always on when powered on.Despite that, for under $25USD at the time of this review, the amount of functionality, the quality, and the nice carrying case that comes with it really makes this a high value purchase. It surpassed my expectations, and while not perfect, easily earns a high recommendation.

This is my first laser level, and I am quite happy with it because it makes it much easier to complete many tasks that previously needed a lot of effort and time, particularly when putting shelves and pictures on a wall. This laser level requires two AAA batteries to work (batteries included). There are two buttons: one to switch on and off the device, and the other to illuminate either or both of the bubble vials. The level can be mounted on a tripod (not included), set on any flat surface, or attached to a metal object utilizing the magnet on its back. The two bubble vials help with getting the most accurate position wherever the level is installed. When the level is turned on, it produces a red cross laser that can reach up to 15ft vertically and horizontally. The level came with a sturdy hardshell case and lanyard. My only complaint about this level is that the laser loses visibility in bright environments. Aside from that, it's a useful and practical tool.
