I got this mixer with the hope that it might help me mix ingredients in the kitchen more easily. So far, I have found very little that the mixer works well with. I think the problem is that the little magnetic pill thing that does the spinning is just too small to affect things very much.

The base is much larger than I thought it would be and takes up a lot of counter space. I would say it's the size of a full hand of a regular person. At first when I tried to turn it on it wouldn't work at all, after tapping it a few times it started to spin but I've noticed this is a consistent problem where it wouldn't always work unless you hit it. Once it gets spinning it is pretty fun as dropping the pill inside the glass and seeing it spin is really satisfactory. The whole basic is made of a cheap plastic that feels kinda thin along with a cheap kinda short power cable with a plug that makes it hard to plug anything else into the same outlet.

Magnetic coupling is so weak that it fails as soon as you try to mix anything thicker than water. Complete waste of time at least for our use. They could have made a good product if they included stronger magnets but they chose not to. Buyer beware

I felt like this is a disappointment based on my expectations. You have these little pill shaped magnets that react to a magnet inside the base. They're like little jumping beans. They don't always come on without fidgeting with the device. The motion of the little magnets doesn't really resemble stirring. I feel like they just bounce around haphazardly and they don't provide a thorough stir. I expected more from this.

I wouldn't say this is lab quality, and it doesn't have a lot of options (probably the most important to be aware of is no heat), but for simple home use this works really well. I use to stir electroplating solution, nothing fancy, just need to keep the solution moving, and have had no problems with it so far. It comes with two small stirring bars of slightly different size (wish is came with a few more, they tend to get lost).Straightforward, simple and inexpensive -- just what I was looking for.

I needed a more powerful stir plate to make big starters for lager beers. Its 5L capacity is working well for me. Very powerful with variable speed control is just what I needed.
