These are the things we DIY enthusiast lab rats wish we had as kids. This one makes that list.It would also have made my mycology hobby more productive years ago, but it's never too late to get used to a good thing.I plan to use mine for mycology, random lab work, and precious metals refining. It works great and is self-explanatory. You set the rotations per minute (RPM) up to 1,500, the amount of time you want it to spin (likely an indefinite setting I haven't found yet), and off this thing whirls. The timer works. The included magnetic spin bar is a great all-around use size, so you get everything you need in a small package. I wish I had the clamp option available through Amazon Vine, but only the basic model was available. There is still female threading for it on this model, so I may be able to rig one up; they must just not include the male-ended clamp for less money. It's a great way to teach kids about radial flow visually. I'd order this stir plate again.

I have used a couple of cheaper stir plates - this one is clearly higher quality and does an excellent job. the addition of the digital screen and super fine stir speed controls is very nice. Although it takes a few more button pushes and turns to get it going it is worth it for the digital control. The addition of a timer is also very nice for projects that need to be stirred for longer periods than you want to sit and wait for. This is a great value and stands far above similarly priced stir plates.

Works pretty good, up to 1500rpm. The knob to control the speed just spins and spins until you get to the speed you want. A petty complaint admittedly, but the only thing I had a issue with. My unit is not the one you can add heat to, but I didn't need that version. Build quality seems to be good.

I use this for mycology. It works great and is super easy to use and clean up. I would buy again.

I've seen some really nice stirrers, and I've seen some really awful ones that should be considered fraud to sell - this one is somewhere in between. For the money, it's functional and probably adequate for most 'hobby chem' stuff. Would it hold up in a production lab? Not a chance - but it's also 1/10 the price of one that would.

Labs on a budget will likely be fine with this non heating model. The cost is so good, that one can overlook the obviously cheap construction. I'm uncertain of the longevity, but it works for now!

This stirrer is pretty good. It doesn’t heat up but you don’t always need that feature. I really like the marks on the top of it because it makes it easy to set your container centered on the platform. The speed seems adequate and the timer feature is nice. The stirrer is not loud at all. The one thing I don’t like about it is the knob because if you spin it too fast, the encoder doesn’t keep up so you end up spinning more than necessary. But, if you spin it at a more reasonable speed, there isn’t a problem. This lightweight stirrer fits perfectly on my crowded workbench. I’d recommend it if you are looking for a timed stirrer.
