This is pretty straightforward. There’s not really a lot that I would think could go wrong. The item is as described. The only thing I ran into a problem with and that’s my mistake. Check what your turn on temperature is and what your turn off temperature is but the unit itself did respond to a temperature change like it should so I can’t fault the item.

Wired it to the fan on my woodstove and stuck it on the side. Turns on when hot and turns off when the fire goes out.

It did exactly what it's supposed to for almost 2 weeks, then failed. Not good with a hot fireplace

Spliced it into the hot wire running to the blower motor on our wood stove built back in 1980.Sliding it up and down the back of the stove to choose how warm the stove needs to be before the fan kicks on. Because it’s magnetic and not permanently mounted, this makes the switch effectively adjustable. What’s really handy is that we can hear the blower shut down from the kitchen or mudroom, letting you know it’s time to add more wood when it has that perfect bed of coals. Fan will automatically fire back up once the firebox is up to temp. No forgetting to flip the power switch anymore.

I got this sensor to add to my fireplace blower fan so it does not run all night after the fire has gone out. I ran a wire from the fan power wire up into the chimney plenum where the hot air comes out. Being a magnet, it sticks to the chimney stack or the top of the fireplace box, wherever you like. Now I can just leave the blower on and it turns itself on and off as needed.
