Bought this drill in July 2024, so its four months old. Just started using it for my home remodel the first week of November. I've used it about four hours one day and about five hours the second day. I'm taking up tile and scrapping up the mortar under the tile. The drill overheats and quits. Once it cools off it will run some more. Not good for a professional tool.This item was listed as "Used-like new." Actually it was refurbished. If I'd have known it was refurbished I'd have bought a new one. I've had bad luck with refurbished tools. I wish I'd have returned it the minute I realized it wasn't as described.I'll call the manufacture tomorrow. The manufacturer wasn't sympathetic and gave me a link to find an authorized repair facility. The link didn't work, the link just said, "Error." I'd have felt better towards Makita if someone had said they were sorry I got a defective tool and sent me the contact for a repair shop close to me.

So, I have a Milwaukee sds plus which doesn't retain the chisel or shaft angle locked so you're constantly adjusting. Assumed the tool is too small for what I'm doing so bought this Makita sds max which initially didn't do that but by the second day same thing. Also I don't understand why they can't incorporate a ratcheting handle lock so the handle isn't constantly coming loose. Overall, I've found the Makita tools are of slightly better quality than Milwaukee and Dewalt which I have a bunch of all. More than likely, and the more you research, it is found that conglomerates own several of these brands under one roof manufacturing similar tools with same components under different names as price and higher end but effectively a money grab from we, the little people. Milwaukee and Ryobi are made by the same manufacturer (TTI in China) so you might have a red Ryobi!

I have used just about every brand made and this is about the smoothest hammer drill I have ever used. This is one of the best investments I have made in a long time. The price was much less than I expected and I was just ready to be disappointed but was pleasantly suprised. This drill is the best.

I have had this about a year. so far so good, no problems at all. I have used it to drill a few hundred holes into concrete. I have broken up fence posts concrete, chipped off part of a huge rock out of the way for a paver patio and even cautiously loaned it out to friends where I do not even want to know what they did with it. still working perfectly every time. comfortable and not too heavy. I am very happy, I was going to buy a bosch for 1100.00 bucks but just didn't have the money so i got this one with the intentions of buying the bosch later when i had more money. I do not think I need it.

Product is as described and cut through granite rock like a hot knife through butter. Drilled nine 5/8" holes 10" deep in granite in about 12 minutes.

We had a similar size Bosch and had quite a few problems with it. We had it rebuilt once, but that only lasted for a few hours of use. When it died the second time we switched to the Makita. This was a night and day comparison. The Makita doesn't hesitate or require warming up. It starts and runs and is quite powerful. We use it to drill 5/8" holes in concrete slabs for fasteners. This is another in a long line of Makita electric tools we own and this is now the only brand we buy. They are extremely durable. Their service centers are easy to locate and respond quickly if a tool is sent in.

Great drill and can't be beat for the money. I have used it to cut holes through concrete for deck posts, fences, smash up tiled floors, core drill holes through basement walls and use it to scrape up floor adhesive. The only thing it don't have is a rotate only mode which I don't really need but would be nice for small jobs. It comes In a nice sturdy box and has a nice tough cable.

I love this hammer 10 min out of the box I am removing a 80 year old fireplace flu. This thing is a beast. I know that bosch is known for the best hammers,but the comparablebosch is $80 more and almost same specs. I figured the money I saved can be spent on bits and with SDS MAX bits they are expensive. This thing blazes through tile and with a fewoutlineing holes will cut through a basment wall in minutes. I am self employed and buy lots of tools when I get a new tool I use the tool for a month or so before I write myname on it I used this for 1 week straight for 40 to 60 min at a time and was so impressed I wrote my name on it that day without worry of having to send it back. If you needa good rotary hammer this could be the one for you and a great price as well.
