The XPH14Z is positioned at the top of the LXT line-up of driver-drills.
The XPH14Z has a more compact and ergonomic design, 14% shorter than the previous model. It's powered by a Makita brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. With a 2-speed transmission (0-550 & 0-2,100 RPM), the XPH14Z can tackle a wide range of drilling, fastening and hammer drilling applications. Other features include an all-metal ½” self-ratcheting chuck for improved bit-gripping strength, L.E.D. lights, and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort.

works well. took two times for amazon to deliver to the correct address. Fedex delivered to my neighbors and showed a "proof of delivery" photo of my neighbors front porch with my package sitting on it. I asked my neighbor for the package, neighbor being in a different town about a mile from my house and denied getting the package. Then had to wait another week and got it. Better made than the one with plastic chuck

Makita, these days, is hit/miss, but this drill is of good qaulity. I use it for drill bit hammering into concrete, and to mix materials in 5-gal. bucket, and for general drilling. This one is a winner.👍

A 1" drill in a cement slab can take hours to set four anchors 3" down. You can really bear down on this thing, and you have to for 1" holes. Needs the big batteries. Diamond drills in bathroom tiles are like butter. My go to tool when I exceed the hex shank jobs. Good for hole saws in doors and counter tops. Probably wouldn't attempt hole saws in granite-like countertops.

I was skeptical about buying this at this price. Every other ad I found for this drill was almost double the cost. I am so glad I took the risk. I have always loved Makita's quality. Having been an electrician since I was 18, I have tried every brand of tool out there (except the Harbor Freight and Walmart stuff). This drill is top notch. It is a bit on the heavier side, not intended for the typical homeowner who just needs a drill 3 or 4 times a year, but at this price it makes sense even for those buyers.

I got this for myself as my old hammer drill finally broke down. Its torque is great for a cordless drill (140nm) and overall I've had no issues drilling holes in concrete and wood with this.
