I should have bought this years ago instead of all the different things I purchased to get my kayak into my J-cradles!!!Malone has nailed it with this side loader. Assembly is easy and quick. Setup of the J-cradles and telescoping poles are a cinch. The telescopic poles are sturdy and solid.I’m 69 years old and in pretty good shape, but no longer have the arm strength to hoist my 38 pound kayak above my head and into the cradles. The Malone system easily gets my kayak to the top and back down again. I use a two step folding stool to give myself enough height and leverage to get the kayak in and out of the cradles.I’m so happy that I finally gave in and purchased this for myself. You will be too!

The Telos seems to be a well constructed product and I was hopeful it would work for my situation. I have a Ford F-350 truck and it’s very tall. To complicate things, my kayak stripped weighs 74 pounds. Bad combination. You need 2 people to make this work as you cannot keep your foot on the leg at the base of the Telos due to my truck height. I returned the item immediately.

Bought this for loading/unloading kayak myself, I'm a 66 yr old gal who can't quite hoist 40 pound yak on roof rack of 2022RAV4 hybrid-- my car is tall and wide. It's a great idea and I am making it work with modifications...Initial assembly was easy enough, and the leg extension pieces fit easily into mounting holes on J holders. However, then you must make room to haul the 2 pieces in car to use at site as well. They are clunky and awkward to fit in car.Main issue is that the legs do not extend quite far enough to reach ground and and therefore rest (& dent) side of car. If legs were just 4-5 inches longer they would extend out from car farther, and prevent this pressure on side of car body, but you have to keep top of extension leg short enough to set the top screw to hold it in place for stability. I use and carry a small block of wood for each leg to set on to increase leg length and also helps in sandy or rocky or uneven ground as the tire flap at end is small. I also use a small thick piece of yoga mat beneath the extension leg that hits body of car to protect it from dings and dents. The J hook carriers install and uninstall easily, and car fits in garage when they are folded down, tho I usually remove them when not in use due to the whistling noise they make when traveling while not loaded. As my yak is fat, I set the J hooks at a slight angle to better accommodate it. Strapping system is also quirky. It often comes apart from the slide piece as it is a very loose fit and I have to use step ladder to reach and re adjust while yak is already loaded... all in all a great idea, but needs some tweaking and refinement, therefore price point seems high. OK if you don't mind the hassles--at least I can get out on my own when I want to. Also, not a lot of room to accommodate kayaks with large seat openings as the strap positions are just barely off the seat opening of kayak. Straps and rope that come with package are nice. Instructions could have been a little more helpful. Good Luck!
