Very sturdy, great quality but for about $100 a bit steep. Could easily be a $50-75 piece. The Manfrotto tripod and 504HD head was about $500ish, this little arm shouldn't be a 1/5 of that cost. Very sturdy, but short so range of movement is limited. Holds the weight of my Atomos Shogun flame connected to the 504HD head with no problem

Literally the best magic arm I ever had. I’ve used them all, from small rig to lampante and this is sturdy. Doesn’t move an inch. I use it for my evf and it’s the best. You can’t go wrong with this.

This is an awesome Arm and very strong. It has built-in 1/4 -20 male ends that can be removed with the included Alen Key and replaced with the one included 3/8 -19 male end. There is also not included female ends, but I can't find them. There are various adapters you can get. When you loosen the only thumb screw both ends can be moved in and adjusted, the end black parts twist independently 360°, and the arm bends & adjusts at the center point. This arm holds the weight it says maybe more. It's worth the price. Of those other brands do not hold a fraction of what they say. You get what you pay for. I have used the larger version for a couple decades for my wheelchair and it worked great also.

Sucks when your rig fails in the middle of a shoot and you loose the footage because your rig is only as solid as your weakest link. Manfrotto has become the weakest link. Will not hold when tightened to the max. Pretty sure that’s why I bought it. To stay in place. It does not. If you need it to stay in place when tightened all the way I would recommend against purchasing this item. Smallrig has never failed me. Manfrotto has repeatedly. Feels cheap these days and does not perform up to a pro standard. I mean really the quality for manfrotto is not something you want to bet your shoots on if you make a living with camera equipment.

I needed a friction arm to mount to a manfrotto 504hd fluid head, and I'm very happy with this one. It definitely is a little bit pricey, but it is built very well and is actually a lot of fun to use with its ball mechanism giving you a large adjustment range.I have connected both lights as well as a monitor to it and it has been performing perfectly. The only reason I don't give it five stars, is that it definitely is pricey for what it is. If it was around $20 cheaper or so I think it would be well deserved.

Okay, this Manfrotto 244 Mini Friction Arm is a little bulky, heavy and expensive compared to other magic arms you'll see. Now that that's out of the way, do you want your arm to be solid, reliable and extremely easy to use? Get this Manfrotto. Do you want some floppy cheap thing holding up your expensive monitor, recorder or camera? Then get one of those cheap ones. I've tried a lot of them, and never been impressed. I decided to bite the bullet and pay more for the Manfrotto. Wow! I love this thing. Once you mount it, you can see that it's worth paying extra for the quality. I like to mount my monitor in various places on the gimbal. and this Manfrotto arm is the only one i've seen handle it. Nice big knob to tighten, and nothing is loose. The cool thing is, you can loosen it just enough to be able to move your gear around on the fly while still having plenty of friction to hold it in place. Anyway. I was actually excited to come here and review it, because it's exceeded my expectations and i'm happy to have such a solid piece of equipment holding up my gear in any position i like! If i had ONE small complaint, is that i wish it was 11" instead of 9", which would make it a little big more versitle. It's still the best magic arm i've used by a mile! Highly recommended if you're tired of looking for a way to mount your monitor, camera, light, whatever.

I use this articulating arm to mount a 10 inch Samsung "monitor" tablet to my 055 tripod. Works great... It's a Manfrotto. No Chinese junk here.

This arm is very nice! Heavy duty for sure. My only issue with it, and the reason for only three stars, is one end stays locked until I manipulate it to free it up. For $110 I think it should perform better than that.
