I purchased this unit to protect our networking using a swappable battery inverter. This allows me to switch out the inverter without shutting down the IT equipment in case the inverter or UPS is low on power and the main hasn’t come back. Think network or server racks where you don’t have a high end UPS with hot-swappable power supplies or don’t want to break the bank to guarantee constant power to your equipment. There is a slight delay with detecting and outage so some low end equipment might get affected so you get what you pay for. Good for RVs, mobile streaming carts, LAN events, etc…

The transfer switch is designed for switching from generator or inverter to shore power or camp site power for boats, campers, or other portable equipment. In the U.S. the standard AC utility power is delivered at 60Hz or 0.016s per cycle and this automatic transfer switches in 30 ms or 0.031s which is just under two cycles. Most electronics will continue to run if the time between power switching is around 30 ms, which is what most UPS and EPS claim for switching times from utility power to generator battery backed power. My plan was to use this auto-transfer switch for my battery backed solar array in the house to have the refrigerator and other critical devices running on solar power and when solar is not available to switch to utility power. The transfer switch is capable of doing this but the housing is made of plastic and there is no UL or ETL certification for this switch. I was planning on putting the auto-transfer switch inside a metal electrical utility box rated for inside locations, but without any UL or ETL certification I'm hesitant to place this plastic housed switch inside an enclosed metal electrical box mounted inside the house. If you're using this inside a boat or a car towed camper typically it's short term use and not permanently installed in a residential location. I deducted one star because there is no safety certification for their product and the case is made of plastic not metal.

I cannot recommend this for anything. It lacks any and all testing certification marks. NO CE Conformité Européenne, NO UL Underwriter Laboratories, NOT even a single ANSI marking. Do not use this with a home generator or solar/wind set up as you might seriously injure or kill a lineman with this un certified product.

This transfer switch works as expected. In automatic mode, it prioritizes source 2, and switches quickly to source 1 when 2 loses power or has a significant dip in voltage. When in manual mode, it stays on whichever source you select. However, this device has literally zero safety certifications, so using it in a serious environment would definitely give me pause. These certifications are necessary to ensure this device will not melt, cause a fire or electrocute the user, and without certifications I would not trust it to not have these issues. While I had no problem using a heavier load on it, I would still only do that for a short period of time, just to be on the safe side. If this had safety certifications, It would be 5 stars from me, but the lack of any safety certification caps it at a 3. It works fine otherwise though.
