I needed a bilge pump for my Hobie. I'd been using a sponge like most kayakers do, but it doesn't do large volumes well or quickly. For example, if I get hit with a wave while I've got a hatch open, I don't want to be sitting there sponging it out for several minutes. It has good output and can get it out fast, and it's small enough to stow. I made bungee loop to keep it in place inside the hatch directly in front of my seat, I suggest you do something similar or it will slide off down your hull and you'll not be able to get it when you need it. Assembly was as easy as putting the hose on.

This product works very well. It seems strong, and durable, and has absolutely no problem pumping water out of my kayak, and works well with other things.

I am using this to siphon water that pools from my heat pump. It works really well, is easy to use, and doesn't drip much. The plastic seems reasonably sturdy.

This is a light weight bilge pump for your canoe, kayak or small rowboat. It does float and is bright, so if you drop it you can still find it. Pumping takes getting used to, not as easy as I thought it would be. I also wish the hose was made a little better, I see it breaking or getting crushed. All in all it works okay.

A Compact Emergency SolutionWhile I haven't personally tested this manual bilge pump, its compact size and portability make it a convenient addition to any kayak or small boat. It's great to have as an emergency backup, especially for unexpected water ingress. I have not been out on the water in a kayak for quite some time now, so I cannot accurately indicate how well it would work. And honestly, I would not want to really have to ever test it out in a real emergency circumstance. However, it's important to note that compact size may come with limitations in terms of pumping capacity. Larger pumps might be more efficient for quickly removing significant amounts of water. And I would definitely be looking for that if I were really taking water on.It's crucial to consider your specific needs and the potential conditions you might encounter. If you're primarily concerned with occasional minor water accumulation, this pump could be sufficient. But for more serious situations, a larger pump might be a better choice. I will update if I ever have to use.

This pump is great for the kayak or canoe, it floats so even if you drop it it won't disappear, the yellow is easy to see and it pumps quickly, the hose helps direct the outflow over the side.

I used to teach kayaking and so have used a number of manual bilge pumps. This one is around a 3.5/5. Here’s why.The good:1. The foam is nice and is definitely sufficient to keep it floating if the kayak tips over and gear goes everywhere. Plus it is bright and visible.2. Tubing can be affixed either near top or at the bottom, for flexibility3. It is compact, and because the tubing comes off, it is even easier to dry and store/transport4. It does remove water from the boat—it’s functional. The good-to-know:1. The tubing is not very sturdy, and I can see it getting crushed, splitting or failing after a season of being under the deck bungies or rattling around in the cockpit.2. The fact that it is compact means it is short and so it’s harder to use in a larger sea kayak or big rec boat, both in terms of clearing the deck when pumping and the amount of water it displaces per stroke.3. The handle isn’t my favorite, and is more awkward than a side grip setup for me, which I find can be more easily angled when sitting in the kayak.4. The pumping action wasn’t as smooth as I am used to.
