When I first saw this pencil sharpener, I loved the look, but I wasn't sure how easy it would be to operate since I'm used to similar ones being mounted to a desk. After inserting a pencil for the first time, it was clear that it has a retention mechanism that frees up both hands, one to hold and the other to turn the sharpener. It says it is for colored pencils, but it sharpened my #2 pencil great. It feels like there are different depth settings for different tip sharpness for colored pencils. The shavings go into the bottom bin which is easy to remove and empty. I love the retro look, and this works great.

This is a great looking pencil sharpener, and it does a great job. The coloring and style really set this apart from the run of the mill pencil sharpener. The instructions are all in Japanese, so don't look for much help there unless you use an AI translator. There really is not much you need to read about with this unit though. You set the sharpness you want with the small dial on the crank, insert pencil and crank until it starts to freewheel. That means you are at the desired point. The shavings drawer is easy to empty. One really nice thing I like is how easy it is to remove the sharpening unit and clear a jam (if you need to). Just a small turn on the large outer dial of the crank and it comes out. No more taking apart the entire unit to clean it. And the blades are super sharp on the cutter head and made quick work of all the pencils I tested.I will say that it is a bit tricky to hold the unit down with one hand while you hold in the pencil, and crank with the other. Other than that, I am excited to have a more functional pencil sharpener!

I ordered this small manual pencil sharpener for my small desk. I love fun office supplies and this did not disappoint. It is very cute and the handle turns smoothly. I love that it is adjustable to different types of sharpened tips. The instructions were not clear on how remove the container to empty it, but all you do is push in the center of the circle on the back to remove it.

I’m really impressed with this pencil sharpener! The midcentury modern design looks fantastic on my desk, especially with the rich wood color. It sharpens pencils effortlessly and the multiple sharpening settings are a great touch. No complaints – it works exactly as advertised and is a great addition to my workspace.

Look, I'm a simple guy. Give me a good pen and a sturdy notepad, and I'm happy. But my daughter, she's all about those fancy colored pencils and art supplies. So when she needed a new sharpener, I figured I'd ditch those plastic, battery-powered gizmos and go old school. This manual pencil sharpener, with its hand crank and adjustable point, seemed like a good bet. Now, I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. I mean, who uses a hand crank these days? But this thing surprised me. It's built like a tank – solid metal construction, no flimsy plastic parts. You can feel the quality in the weight of it.My daughter was a bit hesitant at first, but once she got the hang of the hand crank, she was off to the races. The sharpener makes quick work of her colored pencils, and the adjustable point lets her choose just how sharp she wants them. No more broken leads or uneven points.I was also impressed by how quiet it is. Those electric sharpeners sound like a jet engine taking off. This one? Just a satisfying whirring sound as you turn the crank. It's actually kind of relaxing. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the size. It's a bit bulky, not exactly something you can toss in a pencil case. But hey, it's sturdy and gets the job done, so I can't complain too much.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. It's a solid, reliable sharpener that brings a bit of old-school charm to my daughter's art supplies. Plus, it's teaching her a bit about how things used to be done, and that's always a good thing.
