I just rebuilt my 12 valve cummins. Worked like a charm to get the ring gaps right were I need them. It's well built and have loaned out to others and always get good reviews and the performance or was a great vague for the money. After screwing down to the bench it was stable. I just used the hand crank but I guess you could hook it to a full for ease of use.

Does a good job filing rings, the wheel doesn’t run perfectly true to the guide pins to get a square cut on the wheel, but slightly turning the ring back and forth to find the sweet spot worked.Takes material really quickly, so use caution when filing, check often and very light pressure against the cutting wheel.Other than the quirk of the wheel not running true, the other side isn’t close to square, so its only really got 1 cutting face. All in all, not the worst, but could be built better

It's not a high tech tool, but for the hobby engine builder it does the job. It's certainly easier and more accurate than holding a piston ring in one hand and filing it with the other. It comes with a bracket and some hardware but I just clamped it in my vice to use it.4 stars because the slightly-wobbly carbide wheel is already showing wear after one set of rings (4 cylinder). This review might not sound very positive, but for my engine building pace (one every couple of years) I'll be using it for a long time.

This was my first time using this tool so I had to learn a few things. It worked great once I figured out how to use it. There are videos up on youtube that show people using this device and they will help. Just as an example I needed to grind a ring from .020 out to .032. That took me around 24 turns of the disc and I was bearing down on the ring pretty good. If you are taking off just a little bit, do just a few turns on the first ring and then re-check it. Count your total number of turns you use to get the gap you want. You can then turn the next one fairly close to that number of turns but leave some turns for a final check so you sneak up on the target gap. It will speed up and go pretty fast once you have done a couple of rings and get the hang of it.
