I’m a metal fabricator so I was able to make this lock what I need, but if I wasn’t, I would have used a less than desirable product.(1) I didn’t use the cheap bolts they sent, but if you’re using a lock like this, you care about security and you won’t want to either. I had to cut the head off a hex bolt and weld it inside because they left no room for the head of any kind of decent bolt. You can see in my pic how it won’t close.(2) The latch has a lip where the lock should go through, but you need that space to get your lock latched, so I had to grind that off. In an office where they designed this on a CAD program that might’ve looked great, but in the real world it’s in the way.(3) The U shaped part of the latch where your lock goes through, on the backside they give you a small goofy bracket that will constantly fall off. So I welded that on so I could work with it.(4) I made my own single washers with four holes for the inside of the toolbox instead of using a separate washer for each bolt. If you were trying to break into the toolbox that’s just one more obstacle to irritate your local tweaker. All that being said, I’d buy it again. But I would have expected a more thought out product from Masterlock.

I installed two of these on a tool box in the bed of a pickup truck. One of the keys was misplaced, so I tried to cut the lock, however, the lock would not yield to a three foot bolt cutter. So I had to cut the hook on the hasp, itself, which gave-way with one try, like a knife through hot butter.

I bought this to secure a roll up door on a cube truck while it is docked and an adjustable dock is down on the truck. The adjustable dock prevents the doors original lock from being used and I carry cargo that needs secured by contract when I’m away from the truck. This lock works perfect for this and swings clear out of the way when not in use and adjusts to the difference between surfaces. It is durable, functional and well made. I highly recommend it for lock uneven surfaces together.

Very good quality with parts that move smoothly. Very strong. Successful installation requires the hasp to fall squarely on the eye. This might be the only solution in some situations but alignment can be tricky. Rick murkyvista.blogspot.com

I wanted to add a padlock in the middle of my cross-bed toolbox on my truck. That is the weakest point, and thieves will pry the lid up in the middle and defeat the built in locks. Adding a lock to the middle can prevent that.I my case, the lid on my tool box had a 45 degree beveled edge, and this hasp fits over it like it was made for it. Very pleased with it actually. There was a bit of a tab (that IMO is completely unnecessary, that I guess is in place to help line up the the hasp with the ubolt part where you put the lock through. It prevented me from using the bigger lock I wanted, so I just took a Dremel tool to it and cut that part off and problem solved. That was really my only issue with it. With a slightly smaller lock, that wouldn't have been an issue either.

If you have a difficult situation with odd shaped box this is the hasp. It allows for odd bends that are somewhat of a 90 degree angle but may have obstructions or little jogs. And the hasp is SOLID. It would be faster to cut the lock off than to cut this hasp.

Needed these hasp for a pickup truck tool box that had an unreliable and wimpy lock mechanism. Put two of these hasps with a set of Master locks and it looks like a vault. The only issue is that it comes with enough wood screws for one side and machine screws for the other. In my case, I would have preferred the machine screws quantity to be enough for both sides of the hasp. A short trip to the hardware store and got a full set of machine screws and that was it.

This hasp is stronger than the door I attached it to. There is some wobble in the joints but not too much. The finish has no sharp edges and screws were included. I took one star off for price/value
