The Medline Polyethylene Pathology Containers with Lids, Non-Sterile, 165 oz., Pack of 25, are designed for durability and versatility in industrial and laboratory use. These containers are constructed from high-grade durable polypropylene, known for its strength, helping to ensure they can withstand frequent handling and long-term storage without degrading. The secure snap-lock caps minimize leakage and allow for safe freezing without the risk of cracking, preserving specimen integrity. The container itself is polypropylene and not terribly different from something that might be used for consumer food products. It is reasonably sturdy but no where near as thick as the sort of plastic pail used for industrial goods or "commercial" food items like those that might be used in a bakery. It is moderately translucent. The lid is a mixed polymer and considerably more flexible than polypropylene and with a fairly elaborate lip gripping design. It takes moderate force to put it on and remove it (more than an ice cream pail but less than an industrial pail). My impression is that the seal is effective and secure.Medline products are almost invariably packed in boxes made of really weak corrugated cardboard that looks like it is made from several-times-recycled fibres. The boxes are very minimally adequate for shipping.
