This lens is a great value for the money. I have been switching from my older lenses that need an adapter for my Z6 camera to budget friendly native lenses for the z6 to cut weight. The quality feels very similar to my much more expensive lenses I've been using with the mirrorless adapter. The weight of this lens is very light but doesn't feel cheap. It feels sturdy. I spent a little bit of time shooting my dog and the lens was able to lock on and follow his eye really well for shots, keeping it crispy and in focus. I tested the speed of the lens when we had a small rains storm outside and did bursts of shots when rain drops would fall down on my dumpster. For each burst it would clearly catch the drops falling, hitting the puddle and the splash up. So speed was really good so it could easily be used for track or some other type of fast moving sport lens. The bokeh on this lens is insane. The ability to blur that background would make for some really cool portraits. Overall, I can see myself using this as an outdoor portrait lens. I could also see it being really good for an indoor event where you have very low lighting and you want a lens that you won't get a lot of image noise from. As an 85 lens, you can't really zoom with it but if you had a stationary setup and the length/framing was good, it would be absolutely perfect. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

The Meike 85mm f/1.8 lens is a hidden gem for portrait photographers on a budget. With its wide f/1.8 aperture, you get beautiful bokeh and a shallow depth of field, making your subjects pop. It's lightweight and portable, making it easy to carry around. The lens delivers impressive Image quality for the price, offering good sharpness and contrast. Autofocus is generally quick and accurate, and the build quality is solid, with a sturdy metal mount and smooth focus ring.In summary, the Meike 85mm f/1.8 is a fantastic bargain for stunning portraits without breaking the bank. 📷✨

TLDR - If you don't need the heavier weather sealing of the Z - I'd skip the Nikon-Fast and accurate focus-Very sharp from 1.8-I really like the render and bokeh-About 1/5th brighter than the 85Z till f4 when they even out.-Clicky Aperture ring (I don't see the appeal personally but it's -there)-Very controlled CA-Very controlled vignette-Small and light with usb port in the mount for updates.Weirdly - wider than the Nikon 85Z despite both being listed as 28 degreesMuch like the 35 and 55 of the new series, this one is a winner for Me!

This is a great value , full frame, autofocus lens for the Nikon Z system.I used with a Nikon Z6iii and it worked without issues, including eye autofocus. The autofocus was fast enough to capture the eyes in a moving portrait subject, including tricky backlit scenarios and I tried shots with and without flash.85mm is one of my favorite focal lengths for people images and the 1.8 aperture allows for pleasing background separation and is also useful indoors in low light situations. The Meike 85mm 1.8pro has a clicked aperture ring as well as the usual auto setting.I compared the Meike 85mm to my older Nikon F mount 85mm 1.8G lens (with an FTZ adapter) on my Nikon Z6iii and the Meike was at least as sharp as the Nikon F mount lens in the center and corners and showed more contrast than the F mount.I was also able to compare the Meike to a Nikon Z mount 85mm 1.8 S , a lens costing over twice as much as the Meike and results were very similar at normal viewing distances. At 200% magnification in Lightroom the Nikon 85mm1.8S was sharper , and I would hope so too.For me , all three 85mm 1.8 lenses were more than sharp enough to be used as portrait lenses, indeed sharpness is not the most important factor in a portrait lens. The hood has a really firm click into place and the body also includes a manual focus / auto focus switch. At the base of the lens is a red rubber ring to give a level of sealing. I couldn't see anything in the documentation about the degree of weather sealing , but I'd much rather have the extra sealing ring than not.Closest focusing distance is 0.85m - I'd like to be able to focus closer on occasion, but did have good results using a set of autofocus extension tubes also (coincidently) made by Meike that I purchased back in 2019.I felt colors were nicely rendered and had some 'pop', even with backlit subjects. When I let the sun come into the frame, the contrast and saturation dropped to give a more dreamy look.Summary:This is a full frame autofocus lens for Nikon Z mount cameras that gives results at least as good as the Nikon F mount equivalent and almost as good as the much more expensive Z-mount Nikon 85mm 1.8S.This lens includes an clicked aperture ring, unlike the latest Nikon's.This focal length is ideal for a portrait lens and is great value compared to the Nikon 85mm 1.8S.

The Meike 85mm f1.8 Pro lens has been a fantastic addition to my camera kit. As a portrait photographer, I’m impressed by its performance and value. The image quality is excellent, with sharp details and gorgeous background bokeh. The f/1.8 aperture is great for low-light shots and creates beautiful subject isolation. It’s perfect for capturing professional-quality portraits without spending a fortune. The build quality is another big plus. The lens feels solid and well-made, with smooth focus rings that make manual adjustments easy. Even with its premium feel, it’s lightweight and comfortable for longer shoots. The autofocus is fast and accurate, which is impressive for a lens in this price range. I’ve been using it with my mirrorless camera, and the results have been consistently amazing. If you’re looking for an affordable 85mm lens that delivers top-notch performance, the Meike 85mm f1.8 Pro is an easy choice.
