is that these chest pockets are flat while a Mil-Spec has a pleat to allow some expansion. Are pleated chest pockets worth the extra money? I dunno.Also, my Mil-Spec weighs (with quilted insert) on the order of 4 lb. 2 oz. while this one (size Large) weighs 3 lb. 9 oz.

We got this for our 16 year old son. He is 6 foot tall and weighs about 150 lbs. This is a little bit large on him but as he is still growing, we expect it to last him a while. It looks nice and washes well. He loves this jacket! He has also gotten many compliments on it in public.

Decided on this jacket when found available and resulted in a great choice.Had arrived in good time - upon checkout found no issues with at all with it.Being of 5'10 n 150 had chosen 'small' due to their added size chart in the listing.Upon trying it on did find that it runs a tad large - which had been expected for any military type of outer wear - overall not in need of a smaller size.Found the jackets features all represented well - very nice removable liner and the concealed hood all within ease fo use. All zippers and snaps r heavy duty and operate well - the hood when chosen to wear fits well without any issues found. Chose the jacket in 'black' and it's a nice satin finish which has a good appearance. Had only removed the added tie rope (drawstring) at the bottom of the jacket instead of havem simply hanging from both fronts as a 'no-need option'.I opted to give this a quik wash n dry prior to any outdoor use - washed on its own - ( low water "without detergent" on perm press setting) and 'med-heat' reg dry cycle thru a 1/2 hr dry time. NO detergent is the key due to the materials waterproof charactistics - used some heat to tighten up on the fitment. This procedure worked.The overall measurements r : full lengths at 33" ... sleeve top to wrist at 23 1/2" - bottom to wrist is 18 1/2" - width across front with jacket lying flat is at 22" across.All in all very satisfied with the product ... already knowing this will give years of good service life ... listed with a fair market price point the value is there ... do highly recommend as a good choice.

As someone who has actually stood in line and received military gear issued to me, I was pretty impressed with the quality of this coat. It's no understatement to say it's my new favorite - I'm going to be wearing this a LOT. It runs big, but understand that's actually how it's supposed to be...military cold-weather gear is a "system", consisting of multiple layers, including a base layer, a uniform top (or coveralls), a T-shirt, a sweater, a scarf and then you have the jacket itself and the liner is yet another layer. So, they run a bit big because there is the expectation of multiple layers. It also has ample sleeve room for gloves, mittens, OR heavy mittens with heated glove liners (heated glove liners being a civilian add-on, lol).About my only complaint about the jacket is the hood isn't quite as nice as the rest of the coat. It works, but it's not very thick. It's one of those "it's better than nothing" deals, but a better hood would have been appreciated.At the end of the day, it's all about the look, and this coat has it. All you need is your name patch and your unit patch and you're good to go, lol. Maybe a few gold stars...in all, it's a great jacket for the money, and if you use it in proper military style by including the rest of the system (multiple appropriate layers), you'll find it quite warm. By itself, don't take it out into the arctic tundra or anything. 4 stars, and a recommended buy.

Overall it's a nice heavier jacket. I prefer things that don't have huge logo's on them so that was a plus. The zippers and velcro adjustments are well made, although some things like the cuff extension I have to admit I don't understand their purpose, but maybe you do. One thing I'd say in my experience, it's a size too big. And for context, I run in that very unfortunate size between large and extra large in most clothes, so I figured Large would be ok and maybe a little too small. In reality it is noticeably too big, even though I am halfway to extra large as I said. So that means it's flat out too big if you ask me, so if you order one I would order it a size smaller than usual. Other than that I think it's a great jacket.
