I used this without any other steps. Just wanted to get a bit of shine and protect my 47 year old Gelcoat. It was leaving a residue the same color as itself and was very faded. I’m guessing the sun was breaking it down as is expected of UV on epoxy compounds. It is still shiny now about 2months after applying, but is slightly duller unless wiped or polished. I did find this product does leave minor water staining where water flows from rain and air drys. This may be because I left the product on a bit thick. But I am going for protection of esthetics.I applied it very thick and left it for about an hour to dry. Then I polished off with micro fiber cloth by hand. Maybe took me 1.5hrs for the whole boat. Not the right method, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of time on our boat. This product is expensive but seems to work very well if you’re being lazy. I’m sure it works better if you put in more effort.I thought this information might be useful to someone who is like me who had been using Meguiar's Flagship Premium Marine Wax. I will not be going back

Hubby used it on the boat this time on top of the wachs, as he had started it already before product arrived. The result and the difference from one side done, to the other side only wachsed is simply amazing the shine wow, made the boat look like new.

Used it as an alternative to wax for my lacquered wood countertop and it's great. Easy to buff out, no residue, no haziness. Definitely recommend.

Very nice high gloss did the water test water will barely stick to it. I've use Meguiars Marine line for a long time I'm not going back.
