I went with this hardware cloth over cheaper alternatives because it came well reviewed by a friend and, being a Floridian, corrosion resistance was a high priority. Specifically the higher quality and post-welding galvanizing process. Well that backfired. This definitely itsnt the same quality of stuff my friend got, if I didnt immediately need to have my chicken coop ready id have returned it. But my chickens dont deserve to suffer just because i procrastinated till the last minute. First off, there are random globs of melted metal hanging off the HC randomly, like poorly done soldering. Thats annoying but i said W/e i can deal with it. The bigger issue is that im not sure my HC ever got properly galvanized at all. About 3/4 of my roll (100ft by 3 ft) is covered with a powdery white residue that appears to be to be some form of corrosion. I can visibly see where some sections are shiny and smooth and the rest is rough and corroded. Its etched into the metal, and also forms rough/sharp raised ridges that scratch. Its flaky and gets all over me as i put the HC up, dried and chapped my hands horribly (included gloves are useless, constantly getting snagged on the HC. ) This has no metallic sheen whatsoever, unlike other HC ive used and even the exact same product from just a few years ago. Its flat and dull and im convinced it will need replacing in a year at best all itll corrode and form holes over time without that protective galvanized coating. Maybe i just got a bad batch, ill be reaching out to customer service to see if they can help me. But if this is how its supposed to be, dont buy this, because clearly its gone downhill.
