I have had the earlier hitachi version of this drill for 8 years. It was powerful fast drilling when it died I bought this newer version. From the moment I first used it I could see a dramatic difference in hammer force. Even though this new one has slightly more wattage than my old one it really lacks the driving demolition force, it's not there. I used it on one job breaking up small areas of cut concrete that is 3" to 4 " thick it started making weird noises and fatigue squeaking. I can tell this drill will not last long. I will repair my old reliable drill and park this thing on a shelf. Very disappointed. As often happens with a good company being bought out the product quality drops. Sad end to Hitachi!!

Purchased this Metabo to replace my 20 plus year old Hitachi DH38Y. One can only hope that this drill is at least equal to the old one. After all they do say improved. The lighter weight or less vibration means little to me, I only care about the quality and durability of the tool. After all when you're in the trades that's what matters most, Durability. With durability comes Quality. Price is 3rd. My old Hitachi has gone head to head with the other top brands on construction sites and always come out on top. That was one tuff drill. So I will be updating this review later if this drill is a waste of money, so as to help others not waste theirs. One last thing, my old Hitachi will go into surgery to see if it can be Revived..lol.Updated my review on 11-6-2019. I changed from a 5 star to a 4 star because of the clutch system on the drill. If you apply much pressure or if the drill binds just alittle the drill starts slipping. Just hoping that it holds up.
