This pan keeps my mealworm pupae from getting all mixed up with the mealworms, which makes life way easier when they turn into beetles. Totally worth it.

Got the full set of these pans for sorting my mealworms. They work great. As someone else mentioned, wheat bran is way better than oats for substrate, as it falls right through the slots. Makes sorting a breeze.

I use the pupae pan to isolate pupae from my mealworm bins so they don’t mix and great problems once they start turning into beetles (which would allow the beetles to lay eggs among my larger mealworms). If you don’t separate the pupae, you will have a bin with vastly different size mealworms growing in it, which makes things harder to separate later. Keeping everything separated as they grow is the best way to keep my mealworm colony operating at peak efficiency. And this pan does a great job of separating out the pupae. Some really small pupae (and immature ones) might sneak through, but I tend to cull those from my colony anyway so I only grow out strong and healthy beetles. Overall, this is a solid product, as with the other pans I brought. Very happy customer here!
