This shower screen is a fine piece of metal work, surely laser cut. Such pieces always amaze me because I don't feel the holes at all, but I see them, and they are there. The surfaces feel absolutely smooth, yet there are many little holes in it, under 0.2mm in diameter. It's stiff and will stand up to normal careful handling. The edges don't cut into the fingers. I didn't try very hard to bend it because I didn't want to succeed, but it seems as strong as one could expect.Being 58.5mm, it fits fine in the basket on top of the puck, but it would not fit on the bottom of the basket because of the slight narrowing of the basket toward the bottom.Using it, the result is that the extraction looked the same as usual, lots of crema at the end as usual for this bean. The shower screen is usually filthy and with this, it was very clean, so the puck screen did its job. It's very easy to rinse off the puck screen, saving the chore of cleaning the shower screen after the shot. After removing the portafilter after the shot, I've heard of using a magnet to remove such a puck screen from the used puck, but just pressing down one side of it I was able to lift the other side to get a finger on the edge and take it out.Since this goes on the top of the puck, I would not expect any reduction in oil (mouth feel) in the shot from using this. It works fine.

Overall, it is a nice looking item and can hold three puck screens easily. The magnet, however, is too weak to be of any use. Once an extraction has been made and you try and use the magnet to pull the screen, it cannot do it. It does not have enough hold to do the job properly. The main purpose of buying this was to utilize the magnet to make getting the puck screen less messy.

I've been using this MHW-3BOMBER 54mm Espresso Puck Screen for the past week or so now and it's become my daily-use screen. I don't have refined enough taste to know if screens improve my shots or not. What I do know is that they help keep my shower head clean, and that's the primary reason I use them. While it doesn't improve it's functionality in any way, this is the nicest looking puck screen I own. The black coating and silk screening is well done and gives it a quality appearance. It's super thin, I was surprised at how thin it is. I much prefer these newer single sheet of metal screens over the thicker almost mesh-like screens. Not so much because of how thin they are but more because they are SO much easier to clean, and less prone to oil buildup internally in the mesh that you can't easily see.The product description pictures have changed slightly since I ordered this. They used to show it's use with a magnet, and some of the hero pictures later down still suggest this. While it does work with a magnet, no magnet is included. And thus the reason for only giving this 4 stars. Not because the magnet isn't included, but because you really need something like a magnet to get this thing off the puck. I do have a fairly strong magnet I use with my other puck screen. Usually these are some blend of stainless steel that's only slightly ferrous. Whether it's the blend of stainless used or the thinness of the steel it's not very magnetic. I'm finding I sometimes need to knock the puck out to get the screen off, the magnet I have just won't lift it from the puck all the time. With my other screen it always pulls it loose. I'm trying to find a stronger magnet to use with this one.If your workflow is to recover your screen after knocking out the puck this won't matter to you. If you're used to the thicker mesh style where you can push the screen down on one side and then pluck it out, that's not as easy with this style due to how thin it is.Other than the challenge of getting it out of the portafilter this is a really nice puck screen that seems to work well. It's also priced nicely for the quality.

Nice item, won’t save you any time cleaning machine as you lose it on cleaning puck screen but does give a nice piece of mind that machines back flushing oils and sediment.Recommend for machine longevity alone and its ability evenly distribute water during pre infusion
