Have previously used a pickaroon with a straight point . After moving and splitting 3 cord with this hookaroon I would definitely recommend it works great

I have used old school wooden handle versions and new school straight steel handle versions. This combined the best of both.Ergonomic strong lightweight handle and a perfectly formed hook that really grabs. Nice protective sheath at a very fair price.

Très léger, facile à manier et très robuste. J'adore travailler avec cet outil. Je l'utilise pour charger ma remorque de bois. Des buches de bois de 4 pi. Je recommande cet achat.

good sharp pick with strong holding ability.......balance seems fine. given that all my pickeroons are old school Maine style with wood handles this fiberglass handle feels a bit large to my hand, but it swings well. gave it to my son in law, so time will tell.

I don't know who came up with that name. Peavey Co in Bangor, ME invented the pickaroon well over a century ago. Theirs had an ash handle , but the function is identical. Great tool. Saves considerable bending over while getting out firewood

Helpful tool will save your back and reduce chiropractor visits. Handy helper to carry wood, without leaning over.Storage head cover lock never worked. I used 2 small Velcro straps to secure it in the cover, for travel.. If it had a couple more holes on top, one could use the Velcro straps to secure it better.I love that is has a silicone handle, instead of wood that has a good chance of breaking.

It sticks in 100 year old dense oak 16 inch rounds because the point is so sharp. The blade is reinforced like an I-beam a few inches from the point so the blade will not snap off. It is just heavy enough so I don't have to swing it too hard to get it to stick. I love it. I am 75 years old but I can still out-work most men half my age. Best buy of them all.

I use wood to heat my home and smoke meat. I bought the orange lifting tool that everyone is always promoting. It worked but it was a bit cumbersome for smaller rounds and served no purpose for picking up split wood.Decided to try this out. I should have bought this year's ago! It grabs all my hard woods with ease and can also pick up split wood.I know there are other hookaroons with more reviews, but after quite a bit of research, I found I needed something with a little weight to penetrate the hard wood, but not too heavy as to wear me down. This was perfect. Handle is comfortable as well.
