I have super high hopes for this item. I have a granddaughter who is just getting interested in everything. My hope is between binoculars and this microscope, the amazing creation will captivate her rather than a cell phone.

I'll be honest. I really didn't think this toy version of a microscope would be very impressive, but boy was I wrong!With a 200X magnification and clear image. This thing is so cool. You can take a photo of the image and send it to a computer screen to see it even in more detail. You can install a micro SD card for saving more photos. I found a very small ant on my kitchen floor and for the first time. My son and I was able to see up close what a tiny ant really looks like. Unfortunately I had to end the little guys breath because he wouldn't stop moving. :( my son and I looked at everything from an ant to bed fibers to the pores and variations of the pigment in my skin. This is definitely a quality microscope and id happily recommend to any young inspiring scientist. Fun for children and adults alike.

This is my 3rd attempt at finding a fun age appropriate microscope. The first one was a plastic one that sat on a table and broke when handled too hard. The second was a little too scientific and required slides. This one is PERFECT for at least a curious grade school level kid. It's been in constant used since we opened it, looking at everything from wood to skin to scabs to dog fur... to whatever else we want to check out!I am genuinely amazed at this thing. It really does magnify to an amazing degree! The screen is easy to look at and understand what you are seeing, and the focus knob is large and easy to handle.The dual purpose buttons are easy to get a handle on - short press to change magnification, and long press to change brightness of the LED lights.It requires a small storage card (not included) if you want to save more images. It does have storage included to store a number of pictures. You are supposed to be able to transfer these to your computer. On a windows 10 laptop, my computer did not recognize this as having a drive. This is out of the box with no storage card added.Another option is to connect it to your computer, and you can view the image on your big screen. The book is actually useful here. You can open windows camera, change a few settings, and have access to the camera directly. If you want to capture a still, you use the capture option on the computer.There is also a nice lanyard included. The battery came with a good charge so we could jump right in, and there is a small charging cable. I'm looking forward to getting this outside to look at leaves, plants, and bugs! This so much fun, I need to just end this by letting you know how fun and awesome it is, so I can get back to playing with my kid!--update-- The battery has charged up fairly quickly, and I don't know how long it lasts per use. I was able to take some pictures to save into the device, but was not able to transfer them to the computer. This is still very cool, and fun just for the sake of exploration!
