I ordered two "new" tablets neither would hold a charge out of the box. Was given partial refund.

I think I installed it properly but the screen has issue, I am not sure whose fault is.

The first week I had it, I used it to video call a friend and afterwards it overheated and wouldn't work. No problem I fixed it and went on to have over a dozen other issues from black screening to randomly missing window systems and etc. It is so incredibly buggy that I wish I had chosen the Apple route to begin with.

Ok I have been using windows all during my 30+ years as a Senior PCB Layout Designer for all wireless components in cell phones or any wireless equipment. My wife a school teacher also for 35+ years and like most schools they use Mac, Apple base computers. When my wife retired I bought her a Mac AirBook. I upgraded my Surface Pro, that’s right no number, it’s that old. Still works great and I keep it setup in another room so I only need to take my new Surface Pro 8 if I travel. What I don’t get is every time I open it it has updated waiting to be installed and then restarted. It’s fast so great. But Apple products never come up with new updates every time you use it. Apple cell phones have few and far in between updates and it’s usually done as a user choice of now or during a sleep. It could be months and you wouldn’t even notice it. I like my Surface Pro. The touch screen is a big deal for me. The detachable keyboard is great. The stylist and docking station are also convenient. So it’s a great PC and I like it. I just don’t love it.

Running Ubuntu 22.04 just fine. Takes some tweaking and finding the right apps (gtk based mostly) after installing the surface kernel. Bought this to replace my old and dying iPad but I prefer to run Linux as my daily driver on all devices.

With the type cover on, it feels as compact as an A4 notebook. It's my first Surface Pro (I had the first gen Surface Book back in 2016) and I love the kickstand and type cover. It really makes this such a versatile little device. I've had no trouble with basic productivity and use with art apps (everything runs well, though it does get hot and battery life isn't great). Typing on it is a joy, trackpad is good. That said, this is a secondary computing device for me, my main machine is an Intel 16' MacBook Pro which has horrible battery life and is too big and heavy to carry around so it pretty much stays on my desk. I also have an iPad Pro 13' with the Magic Keyboard but honestly the file system is lacking and the Surface fills in the space between the two nicely. I think if it were to be your daily driver, the screen is just a tad too small. An external monitor for a home/ office set up for when you're not on the go makes this an ideal device. The new Slim Pen 2 is also really, really good, and works superbly with this. On par with the Apple Pencil now, I'd say.I wish it had more ports, but Thunderbolt is great to have for high res external monitors and maybe an eGPU down the line. I also wish it could charge faster with regular USB C chargers, but I guess you get an extra port if you use the Surface charger. Battery life is on the low side, and it gets warm, but honestly I don't have any major complaints. It should have been priced lower or included the type cover and Pen, but otherwise I'm happy with it.Small, light, great pen input, decent performance and incredibly versatile- love this.

I love surface products and have been using them exclusively since 2016. I've had a surface pro 3, 2 surface gos, a surface laptop and now the surface pro 8. However, this one just isn't doing it. It worked great til about a month ago, and now it has constant connection issues no matter what I am hooked up to, as well as massive thermal problems to the key of opening up a browser will literally overheat and freeze up my computer. Constant mouse jumping and numerous problems when opening apps. I have done a clean reset and this issue wasn't fixed. I have updated everything I can in Windows update and it hasn't been fixed. I love surface so much, but I can not reccommend this product now. The most disappointing thing is I still haven't even paid it off yet. That is literally well over a thousand dollars in the drain for a non functional computer. I'm sorry, but I just can't get around that or that I would have had to pay people for them to support their 1000+ dollar product. Bad experience and if I can even sell it now, I will be getting rid of it the moment my last payment goes to amazon.

I bring it with me to work and when I'm out, allowing me to draw, whenever the urge hits me... also got the keyboard and pen, which feels a lot safer during the transportation than my surface 7.

This surface pro 8 is okay. It has glitchy issues like watching netflix and having the screen freeze. It will also randomly turn off and randomly go to sleep. Its frustrating when your typing a document and it turns off or goes to sleep and you have to waste time restarting it. Also its frustrating when watching netflix and the screen freezes, you close the app and then restart and it works fine. The keyboard, trackpad, and pen are excellent for a portable tablet. If this product wasnt so glitchy i would be very happy with it. But i regret selling my 5 year old acer predator laptop as it was better in everything except battery life compared to this. I will be selling this product and purchasing an ipad again.

Edit: It suddenly died. It didn't even reach 6 months! Only option is a replacement. And I don't trust this device anymore. I'm trapped with it. I'm not sure of its reliability...Not a deal breaker for me. But the battery life is the hindrance. If you use this for browsing or media consumption, it will have a decent battery, but not on par with the iPads. Bottom line, best Windows tablet/2-in-1 out there.
