I was hoping that these would work as butter knives, but they are too small and can't cut through butter that's been in our refrigerator. They might be fine for soft cheese, but I'm not sure of that, either. I would want them to have more substantial handles to be really functional.

They seem like genuine Mikasa spreaders, except they really are small, just under 6 inches long, the description said 8 inches long, which would’ve been a lot better to hold onto. I don’t understand why these companies make these spreaders so tiny on the handle. I have women’s hand, large, gloves, size 8 to 8 1/2 in a women’s size. Men can probably barely hold onto these little spreaders I may not have purchased them if I had known. But they do happen to match my existing silverware very very closely so I am keeping them. The Mikasa name is etched on the blade itself not on the handle. So I hope they are genuine 18/10 stainless steel. They seem like it, time will tell. I will probably search for some larger spreaders later on, these were a bit pricey for tiny little things. I was reluctant to spend that much about $25, but I figured they would be quality if they are Mikasa and 18/10 stainless steel. Lots of things on Amazon are in my opinion overpriced but I shop for the convenience. And availability.

The description sez : "each measuring 8 inches long" LIES! They actually measure 5 7/8 inches. So, if you're interested in something short, here they are.
