I'm a big fan of the Mill Hill kits of this size. They are a very nice size project with a lot of fun 3D detail, and they have enough stitch variety to make it interesting, challenging, and not boring. I took away 1 star because the beading needle they provide is so flimsy that you can barely thread it. Some of the beads are so tiny and fragile that they break while sewing them on. Not horrible, but just some of my experience. I have to use a lighted magnifying glass lamp to do these projects, which is ok - - just know that you're getting into some tiny applications.

Lovely design. Colors misstated on directions (know b/c I compared them to DMC colors listed) and one color missing entirely...I was able to start/complete b/c I had the floss already. Very helpful though to have quantity of strands listed, helpful in sorting (that and having the DMC floss to compare)
