Handle would not screw in, didn't want to mess with return. So had to tap and dye handle and mechanism, so not a full 5 star rating

First impressions for this mini drill press so far have been good. assembly and operation is simple and the ability to drill materials such as wood, plastic and very light metals works fine for my needs. For the price, I feel it was a worth while purchase.

The chuck was nicely made and fit the arbor tightly. It spun well with zero wobble and the machine ran smooth and quit with more than enough power for the DIY guy. The only problem was that I had to re-tap the threads for where the plunge handle fit, some how they had become buggered up. I used this machine in combination with a Dremel bit to mill a slot to install a new front sight on one of my black powder revolvers, it worked great. No regrets.

First off I was surprised at the overall good quality of this drill press given the low price. The instructions are well written in English. The base and body are cast iron with a good finish. The riser bar is polished steel. The drill adjusts easily for height and the locking mechanism is solid and easy to set. The quill operates smoothly and the return action is positive. Quill travel is about 25mm and has no noticeable side to side play. The chuck is removable and fits with a standard taper. For those that complained about the chuck falling off, the instructions explain how to properly secure it. If secured correctly the chuck won’t fall off. On the downside the motor is very low powered and will not start or even run at the lowest speed setting on the control. You need to set it at least 1/3 of the speed for it to run. Even at this setting the motor has almost no power. Setting it to a higher speed provides power but then the speed is so high it may burn or overheat your drill bit. The two higher speed pulleys run at a ridiculous speed, much higher than a normal drill press. The drill press would be better if the motor were designed to operate at a lower speed. The only questionable quality issue is that the motor wires flex at the brush assembly as the drill bit is lowered. Over time they will probably break. I changed the wiring path on mine and secured the wires differently to provide better strain relief.I purchased the drill press strictly to drill semiprecious stones to make beads and other jewelry. I’ll never use a drill bit much larger than 2mm so I’m not concerned about the low power. I measured the runout to be .1mm which is good for the work I’ll be doing.I would have given five stars if the motor ran slower and the wires were better secured. I would recommend it only for light work.

Nice drill press I changed the belt position and this just takes off. Great for high speed drilling.
