Attaches firmly to both metal and plastic lidded cans. Other combined spouts/lids I've tried wouldn't fit plastic lidded cans. Easy to lock in place or remove. Won't come off when you tilt a full can so no spill risk.Sturdy handle, strong spring closes spout firmly.Stirring ability is handy since you don't have to remove the lid to stir the material. If you are planning on spraying, you don't want to shake a can and trap air in the material.

My project involved repairing a custom Cedar stairway that was exposed to the elements. After 20 years it needed rebuilding, and better weather protection, and a non-skid surface for here in the Pacific Northwet. I obtained a gallon of Wood Guard Anti Slip Coating, which has suspended particles in the 'clear' coating for traction, which means it needed to be "shaken, not stirred" vigorously for quite a period of time, as my initial attempt at manually shaking and stirring and then test painting the underside of 3 of the new cedar steps demonstrated. My arms were pretty tired, but the coating was still not mixed enough. Looking at paint shakers, I saw the BLYSK Mixing Mate Paint Lid Kit, and for $30, I was intrigued. It arrived this afternoon, was quickly and easily assembled, and installed on the gallon can. After about 2 minutes of rotating the handle, I poured out a few ounces of the Wood Guard into one of the cups that came with it, and quickly painted the "top side" of my cedar step boards. After drying, this was MUCH better. More even and consistent particle suspension throughout the first coat than the test coat on the obverse side. Tomorrow the second coat, and then I can start cutting the 15 other new replacement steps, and painting them.Pluses: Easily assembled, the lid mounts securely to the top of the can, the agitator can be easily raised and lowered to mix at any depth, the handle is easily strong enough to hoist the entire weight of a full gallon can, the retractable valve gate allows easy and measured pouring into the mixing cup, and can then just be set down and ignored until you need some more. I've never had an easier, quicker, cleaner prep and use of cans of paint. Note the markings on the lid for the clamps, you have to push the clamps down before turning to slip them under the can rim to latch. Takes some pressure, but that counter-pressure is what keeps the lid secure and sealed on the top of the can.Potential Minuses: The agitator is a hard plastic material, so respect it for what it is, keep it away from clumsy gorillas, and which may be a bit weak for really thick latex paint (my anti-slip coating is about the viscosity of thick spar varnish - about 90 weight gear oil, and had no issues at all). If the agitator and shaft were metal, it would "feel" more durable, but probably more expensive and more difficult to clean up. Not worth 'ducking' a star - I really like this thing, wish I'd had one years ago.. and see no reason why, without some care, it won't last a long time..

I ordered one of these not long ago and it is great so ordered another. The handle won’t fit tight on the shaft of this one and is a different color (first one was black this one is light gray/tan) and button shape is different. When you spin the handle it just comes off. Inconsistent. Unhappy.

Not sure what happened but the spin handle broke off after one use. After if broke I took a closer look at its thin plastic so I am not shocked.

I never, EVER write reviews but for this one, I just had to (due to the ridiculous critical comments). If you're thinking of buying this, do it. I have 4 of them and I use them for heavy catalyzed primers and polyester coatings - super messy stuff. Now, not a drop anywhere - I giggle every time I batch material accurate to the gram.If you're worried about reviews saying it won't fit a normal 1 gallon paint can, all you have to do is push the stirring paddle a little farther through the hole in the top of the lid. This is actually by design, it also gives the stir handle clearance over the spout. I can't believe someone went through the trouble to cut the paddle shaft and not just push it through a little more. I mean ... seriously?

Works great for lacquer paint. Very easy to pour without dripping. Stores on the shelf and ready to use with just a few quick turns to mix the paint.
