I bought a Uni sharpener, that is really cute, tiny, black, and has a swing hinged top covering the hole for the lead. But, in my humble opinion, it was a complete waste of cash. Then there was the Staedtler...which MIGHT be really good. I wouldn't know, because I have a Rotring Rapidpro, which does not fit in this particular sharpener. The tiny buck-a-piece ones are absolute crap, and not really worth mentioning. All of the above is why I can say, with a straight face, that $10 is NOT to much for this sharpener. It WORKS. It even works MORE THAN 5 TIMES IN A ROW!It is STILL WORKING! And it provides a point that is dangerously sharp, every time, and it is easy to use.I even sprang another $10 for 10 replacement blades. That was not a misprint. REPLACEMENT BLADES FOR A REAL, METAL SHARPENER THAT WORKS. FOR REAL.So, my wallet is $20 lighter for this purchase, and I have zero regrets. If you have been looking a long time for a 2mm lead sharpener that actually WORKS, this is it. Just buy it. The quality of the tool is a good reason to keep them in business making these things. Buy one.

This sharpens to a fine pont. Is a bit heavy (brass as opposed to aluminum) but very nice.

What can I say, it's a throwback to an older time, beautifully made in brass, it does what it's supposed to do while looking greatThis is a very well made brass sharpener that will put a point on the 2mm leads that are in some of the mechanical pencils that I use for woodworking. These pencils have a tiny plastic sharpener in the cap that's fiddley and easy to loose, this does a very nice job

I’ve seen a few bad reviews and either the folks complaining got a knock off from a local store or they got defective ones, because this thing works flawlessly. It gets lead to a needle sharp, very precise point with no janky shaping like you find on disposable plastic alternatives. With a little care you can also easily get less intense points on your lead if you don’t want it to be extremely sharp. You do need to be a little gentle when removing your lead, ideally softly rotating it as you pull it out of the sharpener to ensure it doesn’t get hung up, but I’ve had zero issues with it.The disposable blades make this a vastly superior choice over the cheap plastic equivalents - I recently bought a pack of those and had to throw them away, they all produced extremely uneven points that necessitated smoothing it out with a razor by hand, defeating the entire purpose.TL:DR- Solid high quality build- Replaceable blades- Easy to predict lead sharpness based on the pressure you apply- Extremely consistent points- No wonky grinds like you get with cheap plastic lead pointers

This lead sharpener is not only a joy to hold and use, but also the only lead-pointer out there made out of brass. It produces long and sharp points that enable you to work on the tiniest details over any drawing. It takes 2 and 3.15mm leads in both, graphite and color. The blades can be easily replaced with the blades used in other M+R sharpeners and available insets of 3 or 10 here on Amazon and other outlets. It is the spiritual successor to the Minfix sharpeners made by Faber Castell around the 60's and 70's and even thou the finish is not quite as good, it is quite solid and reliable. The only downside is that is doesn't have a container, so you have to be careful not to store it before giving it a good blow, or else, you risk staining whatever case or bag you carry this sharpener in.

I bought two of these, the second after receiving the first. This is the most magnificent sharpener I have ever purchased. It cuts lead to a super thin point, it has beautiful heft to he and is a pleasure to just hold in your hand. I draw using the mechanical clutch 2mm lead pencils and wooden pencils. Many of the wooden pencils will fit into the 3.2mm hole if the wood is trimmed back far enough. In drawing the wood is geneally trimmed back about one inch. I will consistantly choose this sharpener over all the others and I have bought a lot of these just to find one that would honestly perform. Most all of them I have to continue sharpending the blades, if not the points break of in the sharpener and you have to go digging the broken pieces out. I cannot praise this sharpener enough. If you get one I am thoroughly convinced you will love it. Buy it and see for yourself.
