No more bouncing fuel gauge and not knowing just how much fuel is in the tank. My old float-arm style sender was erratic and anything under 1/4 tank just read E. That doesn't make for comfortable boating when you are 15 miles offshore. This sender fit perfectly and worked as it was supposed to. Excellent product and good price on Amazon.

My fuel level sending unit had stopped working. I checked the ohms output with a meter and found the old unit was not putting out any signal. I had pulled the old sending unit out of the tank and measured it to be sure I got the right length. I have a 2001 Boston Whaler Dauntless with a 60-gallon tank. It took me a while to install (20 Minutes) because the five holes on the unit had to be lined up one way to install the replacment unit. Once I figured that issue out all went well. It's sooooo nice to be able to see fuel levels again. I was frequently refilling the tank because I could not tell how much gas I had. My boat has Smart Craft Gauges.

After removing the old unit and measuring the depth of the tank with a tape measure, I ordered this sending unit through Amazon. As a Prime member, it arrived less than 48 hours later. I made sure that I rotated the unit as many times as I needed to - to ensure that all of the screws were properly lined-up before tightening it down. Finally, I turned the ignition key to battery, to confirm that my fuel gauge was now working properly. The entire install took less than 20 minutes. It's installed, and still working perfectly!

Used this to replace a fuel tank sending unit with a long wire lever with small float that stopped reading the gas level once it dropped to below half. This is much easier to install and fit right into my tank. I just measured the dept of the tank and ordered the unit that is one inch shorter. This sending unit is made out of quality stainless steel and should last a while. It comes with two sets of 6 screws and one set fit right into the screw holes in the tank. It also comes with a rubber gasket. I just applied a little grease to it before I installed it to keep the rubber from drying out too quickly. This works a little different from my last sending unit which made the needle slowly climbed up from zero to the level of the gas in the tank. This one makes the gas gauge needle go all the way to the end, then it sits there for a while until it settles down to the real level of your gas. No big deal once you know to wait until you get the right reading, after you turn the key.The boat yard wanted $350.- to replace this fuel gauge sending unit. By ordering it on Amazon and doing the repair myself (good instructional video available on youtube!), I saved hundreds of dollars. If you are a little handy with a screwdriver and know how to make 12v electrical connections, you can easily do it yourself!! Just be careful not to drop any parts into the tank and no open flames nearby while you do this (my tank was still half full when I did this repair).

i did not install this in a marine application, so this is an odd installation. i put it in a riding mower. due to designed installation limits (1" clearance below bottom of sensor) and about two inches of EPA air space in the top of the tank my installation reads about 1/4 tank low.the part works very well (and my install on a plastic tank works very well using gently torqued sheet metal screws, but i would bet that's not recommended).the sloshing in the tank makes my gauge fluctuate a lot. i would anticipate that marine usage may be bumpier than my yard. as i am not a mariner (perhaps they all do that), i still think it certainly seems rugged enough for my mower usage. so, i think it would work well for the designed purpose.oh, yeah... my neighbor said "wow" when he saw the installed sensor (with a different mfg gauge). thanks to moeller for a good design of a good product. also, my gauge with this sensor work perfectly together.i don't really expect any "helpful" flags on this review, but i have tried to be honest about it. it is great for a mower. i would buy it for a boat had i had one.

I purchased this product to replace a potentiometer type sender on my boat which had failed. Upon arrival I immediately noted the robustness and quality of construction with the metal components made of stainless steel to avoid possible corrosion from water in the fuel. Also, since there is no mechanical connection between the plastic float and the metal tube it rides on there is not much to fail. It installed easily and quickly, directly replacing, without any modification other than splicing the wires, the previous sender unit. It came with a new gasket and screws with silicone seals to prevent gasoline fumes from leaking into the bilge and engine compartment. Best of all it worked flawlessly. It costs a bit more than the standard potentiometer type sending units but I think the extra cost is worth the improved reliability its simplified construction should provide.
