This is going on my 10ft aluminum boat, with a 6Hp Tohatsu 4stroke motor. Is it overkill, yep! Do I want one, Yep! These have a aluminum base, and steel can filter/separator. The rubber seal keeps the fuel from leaking, and from dissimilar metal corrosion. The inlet/outlets are 3/8 npt. There are 2 ports for both in/out lines. I use o-ring lube on the rubber gasket, but you can use oil, or which ever you have. I recommend using a paste sealant on your threads. Teflon tape shouldn't be trusted with gasoline ever. My thoughts,my opinion. This water separator works great for the price point. You can use a variety of replacement filters, just change it yearly as there is no bottom bowl to drain out the water from the gas. Hope this helps you decide. I have used these before, Moeller stuff is good.

I have 4 boats of witch 2 are ski boats with 350 ci direct/velvet drive and this filter works perfectly although the fittings weren't in the box this time when I ordered 2 of them. Inconvenient as that is , I will have to update after I get enough time to get the fittings they said would come with it. ... Thanks, Jon

I got a 2 stroke 40hp Mercury that has a tiny fuel filter built into it that barely does anything. As a result, tiny little debris from my fuel tank gets into the carburetor clogging idle jets. I siphoned the gas and filtered it but still these mysterious debris get in the system. After I installed this, this not only separates water but it works as a great fuel filter! No never again I had the issue where my outboard sputters at idle. It's cheap too!

Works very well, easy to install. This was a replacement for the FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) version that failed miserably. When I went to replace the filter on the plastic unit it was just barely tight. I was very surprised it hadn't started leaking. The pressed in threaded brass fitting that holds the filter had come loose from the bracket and when I tightened the filter it came out completely. I can't believe Moeller still sells this unit (FRP), it is dangerous! The FRP unit is also not approved for inboard engine installation, meaning inside an engine compartment. This unit, being aluminum, does not suffer from the problem the FRP one has. The fitting that the filter screws onto is threaded into the bracket and can't work loose. It comes with two barbed fittings and two plugs and was very easy to configure to my installation. The filters also have decent capacity and do trap water effectively.

Ok, this little gem needs a proper review.First of all, I am not using this for a marine application (what fun would that be!?) but rather for an automotive project. Basically, my mechanical fuel pump was not cutting it due to vapor lock so I decided to run an electric pump to "push" the fuel under pressure rather than "pull" the fuel under a slight vacuum (which amplifies the potential for gas boiling).I wanted to use a good filter to protect my new pump investment and with today's E10 blend, water in the fuel can be even more of a problem if the vehicle sits for longer periods of time (i.e. classic vehicles) vs daily driven vehicles. Plus, now was a good time for me to remove all the old SAE J30R6/7 rubber lines and upgrade to new SAE J30R9/14 in order to handle the problems of E10 blend and permeation. I will post a follow up once the unit has had some time on the vehicle. When the unit arrived, the first thing I noticed was that it was made in Taiwan and not China (same goes for the filter and fittings). The next thing I noticed is that it states "Not for Diesel" which was kind of a bummer because I could use something such as this for my Kubota generator project. The third thing I noticed was that it included a set of two block off plugs and two straight 3/8" hose barb fittings. I was surprised as I don't believe this was mentioned in the item's description anywhere. In preparation for the real world, I tried looking for replacement filters (other than the Moeller version offered here on Amazon) and found them to be non-existent. Others have also stated having trouble finding replacements. Well, I used my tap and die set to determine that the filter hole is a weird 11/16-16 size (I say "weird" because I was hoping to find a filter that has the built in drain plug on the bottom but to get one of these, the filter heads usually have a port size of 3/4" or 18/20mm). Once I confirmed this with a bolt, I was able to discover that two popular replacement filters are a Fram PS3808 and WIX 33225.Should be a good unit for anyone needing to remove both water and debris down to 10 microns.Update 6/7/2018: The unit has been installed for almost a year and have not had any issues. Bought a WIX 33225 for a spare filter but have not installed it yet. May wait another year before replacing it if no issues arise. This is not a daily driven vehicle.

Everything there for easy instalation. I would recommend this for any boat. I have three of these, one on both my boats and another on my Bad Boy zero turn mower . I'm fixing to order another one for my Polaris Ranger. Water or moisture in my fuel has caused me a lot of problems in the past. My boats sit up in the winter like my mower does and doesn't get used and that causes problem with moisture in my gas. My Ranger sits up most of the summer and get used mostly in the winter .. Money well spent !!!

I received this filter a day earlier than expected and it is exactly as described and more. It comes with the fittings to make it a complete installation. The only thing you need to supply are the mounting bolts to hold the mounting bracket in place. It will be much more capable of separating the water from the fuel than the little filter that is located on the engine of my 2 stroke 25hp engine. Very happy with this purchase.
