This unit is great, I've been using it as an (always on) pedal in my guitar chain for a couple of years now. It makes everything sound great. I've just bought a 2nd to add to my mixer effects chain for use with vocal compression. This unit really is the best value Optical Compressor compressor available. Its a pedal I recommend to every guitarist.

I have a lot of gain devices on my pedalboard chain, and I needed to reduce the harsh, squawky attack that I get with certain combinations. I installed this item just upstream from the volume pedal and POOF! Problem solved. I now leave it on full time. Excellent combination of transparency, performance and value. I just got another one for my acoustic guitar rig.

Excellent optical compressor, super-subtle and sweet-sounding, with a very useful eq knob. It stands up nicely to the expensive Diamond comp it aims to copy. Save your money for boutique drives and modulation. This is the only comp you need.

Was supposed to compress and fine tune the guitar sound input, instead this pedal made the loudest hiss noise in my small chain. These mooer pedals are overrated and over priced! Returned it. Not worth it.

Un gran compresor en un pequeño pedal. Increible para tocar desde funk hasta darle increíble sustain a mis solos con saturación.

A nice compressor for the money. I got it to beef up my Dobro because my Dyna Comp is too squishy. This one is more subtle and better suited for acoustic instruments. I have not tried it with my electric rig, but used it in a few acoustic gigs and was pleased with the results.

Really great pedal at an affordable price! Compression is a subtle effect but adds a whole new dimension to your tone. I wasn't about to spend $150 on something I wasn't certain about so opted for this lil guy. Couldn't have asked for a better pedal, helps tame the highs and lows of my auto-wah, and adds a distinct crispness to the overall sound. I keep all the knobs at 12 o'clock and always have this pedal active.

I guess I'm alone so far in my opinion of this pedal. I've used many compressors; my mainstay for the past two years is the Wampler Ego. Granted, there's going to be a big difference between a $200 pedal and a $70 one. This is a great little pedal except for one glaring problem; it doesn't compress...at least not quite enough for my applications. At full clockwise, it compresses only about as much as the Wampler set at 50%. I can't imagine why the design team didn't allow a little more "squash" that can always be backed off with the main knob. I need my notes to sustain longer and they just don't with this one. Other than that, it's quiet, and I like having the EQ control.

The Mooer Yellow Comp was recommended to me by countless people online and in guitar stores, so when I saw it go on sale a bit, I finally checked it out. I actually have another affordable compressor (The Joyo Dyna Compressor) that I am quite happy with, though I believe it is an "OTA" (Operation Transconductance Amp) compressor similar to an MXR, BOSS, or Ross, whereas the Yellow Comp is an Optical Compressor. I don't have the expertise to get too far into the differences between the two, but I've had it explained that optical compressors are a little slower in cutting off the attack and compress less, but are a bit more transparent and smooth as a result.I think the Mooer Yellow Comp sounds great. Besides the Joyo, I have owned both the BOSS and MXR varieties. All of them have their positives and negatives, but this is the first compressor I've played where I really felt like it could be an "always on" effect. Even if you don't want a heavily "squashed" sound, mild amounts of compression are still useful for smoothing out undesirable volume spikes and generally adding sustain and saturation to clean tones. My current amp is the new Vox AC10C1 - it's a great amp, but extremely touch-responsive and can get too loud/bright with my heavy picking technique. The Yellow Comp is great with this amp - I didn't want to turn it off! The EQ knob on the Yellow Comp operates like the "Top Cut" knob that my amp doesn't have! It seems to alter the amount of compression applied to low or high frequencies, so the result is similar to a high or low-pass filter, even though that really isn't what it's doing. Finally, I should point out that there's no volume loss with this compressor, which is something I noticed with some MXR Dyna Comp variants. If anything, the Yellow Comp can make things louder by bringing up the level of those quieter notes. Unity gain for me was probably around 11:30 on the level knob, and increasing compression seemed to make it louder, which is almost the opposite of how a CS-3 or Dyna Comp works.Compressors are very hard to research and review - everyone's idea of how they work seems to be little different. I've used a few, and I think this is my favorite. The Mooer pedals are Chinese made and affordable, but the build quality seems excellent. This one's a keeper.

I am extremely impressed by this optical compressor. It is smooth sounding, very natural. It provides a nice even sustain, and is very transparent - there is no 'quack' associated with the compression, even at high compression settings. It's quiet and has superb signal integrity - I basically have it at the front of my pedal chain, and it is an "on all the time" effect. The EQ is useful and subtle, but most of the time I just have it set around 12 o'clock and it's clean as a whistle.I also own an empress compressor and a boss CS2, and this is actually my favorite of the 3. I love the fact I can get more gain and sustain from the input of my amp (JCM800) without it actually sounding squashed or compressed.I am a big fan of optical compression; I feel it's just more natural sounding than OTA based compression. This is a great little example of how optical compression should sound! For this price you cannot go wrong.
