Fixed the ESC hill stability error on my car. Check YouTube for video on how to change. Easy but hard to get to.

Put in my Fiat 500 Abarth. It seemed to immediately fix the "No Hill start" but about a hundred miles later it did flash back on but it's only done it that one time and I was putting it down the road pretty hard at the time.I was also crazy hard to install for me. But I'm fairly bad at the sorta thing but there is no room to work in the footwell of a Fiat.

My Fiat lost its brake lights, hill assist, cruise control, and antilock braking. After changing out the switch, all of these were resolved! I was able to change this out on my own. It did not take any tools, just a little flexibility and patience due to the location (behind the brake pedal.)

About a month ago I started running into an issue with my 2012 FIAT 500, while driving to work I would hear a beep and on my display it would show "hill start unavailable" and the red transmission light would come on.I would then notice a shift in gears and my car would struggle to speed up without the car sounding like it was gonna die.I would have to pull over, turn off the car and start it back up again, the last straw for me was when it happened 6 times on the way to work one day.One day I went on line and did a search and found an article that switching out the break switch would fix my issue. Its now been over a week since I replaced it and I have not ran into any problems since.

2013 fiat 500 turbo 5 speed . This is part of the ECS . I was getting the ECS light on dash. Code on computer for hill climb also . FYI I also needed to change the back up light switch. You can tell it's bad when you put car in reverse.

Apparently, failure of this switch can cause the ESC to be unavailable, cruise control to be disabled, the check engine light to come on AND the brake lights to fail. Fortunately it’s a part that costs less than $15. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to get to and replace. Granted, I got lucky and it took me less than 15 minutes to complete the repair. However, I think I bruised a rib contorting my body into the cramped space beneath the dash trying to get to it!Once it was installed, I cleared the “check engine” light with my OBDII coder and the esc, cruise control and brake lights all functioned normally again!

Perfect fit and factory replacement part, but incredibly frustrating to install. Super tight area to work in, completely blind installation. Last twisting, pressing maneuver to click into place is really difficult. Works perfectly once in place though!
