The only thermostat I use. Fail safe. all thermostats wear out but this one stays open when it wears out so your vehicle wont overheat. I use it in all my older ford vehicles 300 302 351 and 460. I guess I am a ford guy.

If you live in the Northern climates, this thermostat does what it is supposed to do, fail "open" when the heat gets too much. I installed two of these on a 1999 Dodge 3500 RoadTrek Van, and pulled a heavy trailer in the Texas heat. It was too much for this thermostat when the coolant temperature reached around 125-130 degrees, and twice the thermostats failed. I'm sure they would have been fine in a cooler environment.It would be nice if they indicated at what temperature they would "fail safe," and if they made different models with different temperatures. I liked the safety aspect, but when they fail, there is no heat in the winter and the engine runs at about 125 degrees!I went back to a Mopar thermostat.

Nice having the extra insurance of this stat locking in open position if car overheats! Seen other reviews saying that it failed because it locked open, but that probably saved their car and didn't even know it! Seems accurate so far, temp gauge stays in same range it did with stock thermostat.
