I use with a solid state relay and a 24v transformer to control a sprinkler system with a MCU. This is a heavy duty unit, all brass valve body. It does not leak at all that I have seen, under pressure or not. This unit can also be manually operated with a switch on the side. A few things to keep in mind while you look for a solenoid-controlled valve:-Is it bidirectional, do you need bidirectional?-What is the control voltage, and is it ac or dc?-Make sure the valve is compatible with the fluid or gas you are trying working withThis seems to be a robust unit that I am confident will last at least a few years.

I am reviewing the product "KAZEFFI Motorized Zone Valve" on 26 July, 2023.I intended to deploy this remote controlled valve in my outdoor drip irrigation system, but found 2 problems that made it a no-go: first, the shut-off state still leaked some water through the valve; second, while the pipe portion of this valve is quite sturdy and durable, the flimsy metal box containing the actual valve disappointed me. I'm not sure why KAZEFFI went to the trouble of making the water-bearing portions so solid and robust but seemed to skimp on the valve closure part. So for my application, I found it unsuitable and replaced it with a different model.

I used a 3/4" NPT 24V valve to create a rain capture system. I connected the valve to a 55-gallon drum that I placed outside to collect rainwater. When the drum was full, the valve would automatically shut off the water supply to prevent overflow.I connected the valve to a rain sensor that would detect when it was raining and send a signal to the valve to open. This allowed the drum to collect water during rainfall and shut off when it wasn't raining. To install the valve, I connected it to a 3/4" PVC pipe that led to the drum and connected the wires to a power supply. The whole process was pretty simple, and the valve was easy to install and use.

I ordered the 1” valve because that is the size of the primary pipeline bringing water into my house. I had intended to use this valve to shut off the water to the whole house in the event of a leak that was detected by any of my water leak sensors. But the orifice inside this valve which actually shuts off the flow or opens to allow water to flow through it is roughly only about 1/2” diameter … which would significantly reduce the flow and pressure across all the outlets throughout the house. So for my intended usage this valve is not acceptable. The construction of the valve is of good quality. My tests showed that it worked as it was designed to work. The space requirements were good for the location where I intended to install it even though the plumber had run that line where it would actually be touching the hot water heater (even with zero clearance it would still function). But I think that given the extremely small internal orifice (versus the fairly large 1” pipe it is designed to attach to) it is best suited in applications where it controls a single water “circuit” - as in a water circulation based heating and cooling system - rather than the full house control situation as I had in mind. Plus since it is a normally closed device, it would function best where it was energized and open for short periods of time (as opposed to needing to be energized almost constantly except for when very rarely allowed to close in event of a leak as in my scenario).

This is a solid quality little valve. I plan on using it in an outdoor, freeze protected space to automate some of the functions of irrigating some vegetable beds. It has snappy operation, even under pressure. It does significantly restrict the internal diameter of the 1" pipe connection, but that's going to be a feature on most valves like this. I used it with plain potable city water, it does not appear to be rated for anything else.Having said that, I'm not sure if I would trust leaving this INSIDE my home connected to any volume of water, especially pressurized water. More than likely it would be totally fine, but the idea of this valve failing and allowing water to flow everywhere for an unknown period of time is very frightening. Otherwise it's great, especially for small projects or in protected areas!
