UPDATE Jan 20, 2025I am also having problems with it clogging occasionally. Even with a fully charged battery.Very annoying. I only use whole corn so it should not clog. I am starting to think the motor is not strong enough to clear itself. I am a bit disappointed, my old one never had any problems.July 2023I bought this directional feeder to replace the one I bought in 2001. Over 20 years with no problems on my first Moultrie feeder but it came detached from the strap a month ago and fell to the ground and broke. They are dependable and work good. The directional feeding function is good because it throws the feed in one spot so you get lots of good trail cam photos.

I replaced the barrel with a larger one longer durations before refilling. The directional was just too loud. This spot always had daytime doe activity daily. Knee I put the feeder in it was only nighttime. I switched to the lower profile Moultrie which runs off of aa's. The deer returned to daylight activity.I would recommend the quieter model.

Le moteur n’est pas assez fort pour du maïs. L’épandeur ce coincé après une utilisation. Je l’ai essayé avec du maïs concasser, et le moteur force beaucoup.

While it was working it was extremely helpful. I no longer had to get up at six in the morning to feed the chickens. We live in a semi urban area and the directional theater was extremely useful in our small yard. I was using scratch feed and switched to pellets 1 time and the spinner jammed as it ground the pellets to fine powder. The powder caked, slowing the motor and causing it to fail. I also wish they just sold a replacement motor and not the whole thing. Unfortunately I will buy another one and hope I can get one year use out of it. I will avoid using pallets and see how it plays out.

I have two of these that have worked great for two straight years. Fired every time with a full bucket of feed. When I ordered more I was surprised to see the updated interface. Took a few minutes to get to know the new interface but after that it is easier to program. The problem is that there’s something in the motor or power circuit that was redesigned and now the motor gets stuck and will not spin without manually turning it to get it out of rotor lock. As such these are completely worthless. You’d be better off going out every day and tossing out a handful of feed.If that doesn’t sound like it would be of value and not don’t buy this garbage.

I have had this feeder in the woods for months and works great as long as you keep clean corn in it. I feed twice a day for 15 seconds on medium, which is 1.5 lbs each time. (10 seconds is 1 lb.) The battery will last for months at that pace and the corn lasts about 12 days between refills. The lid has rusted moderately after 6 months in the weather and will need sanding and repainting soon. I would buy another one.(Update) I'm starting my third season with this feeder and it usually stays in the woods 5 months each time. I have experienced an occasional jam due to debris in the corn but it's mostly reliable, but corn is the only thing I have used in it. As I mentioned earlier the lid started rusting the first season so I sanded it down and did a double coat of plasti-dip and it still looks good. The coons have not been able to tear it up yet though they have gnawed at the deliver chute and have occasionally rattled it so much they knocked the clips off of the battery inside. I will replace the alligator clips with something better in the future. I would still buy another one.

The new battery works great but if I fill the container more than 25% (with corn from Academy), the unit jams. Also, unless the unit is shaken to settle the corn, after two days there is no corn in center hole for ejection. This means I have to check the feeder every 1 or 2 days- a real pain.Note: I, purchased your WINDSCAPES AUTO bird feeder and it’s construction & usability far exceed the Moultrie deer feeder. If the deer feeder had same construction as WINDSCAPES bird feeder, it would be a huge improvement. What’s wrong with the deer feeder?1) the bottom of unit rests on a 1/4 wing nut- making it extremely difficult to fill. ( in order to remove the cover, the unit cannot Be hanging).2) the plastic opening (where the corn ejects) doesn’t last very long as the squirrels chew it off.3) the bottom cover & wing nut need to be removed & replaced practically every day as I need to run the unit to check for jamming. Why not have a simple cover over the clock mechanism, Similar to the WINDSCAPES bird feeder?4) if the unit is hung via its handle, then the unit has to be unhung in order to get the cover off in order to check corn status (unit max is a 3 day supply) ,5) Battery compartment design is sad. Unless one end is well taped, the battery will fall out .5) the battery wiring could be improved)Personally, I think this design must be a carry over for some other use. It’s limited loading capacity, limited food source( corn only- though Amazon says otherwise), partial plastic construction, inability to stand Straight on ground etc - leads one to view the unit as a stepchild - not really what is IN Moultrie’s mainstream.Dimitry MorvantOn Thu, Apr 22, 2021 at 8:17 AM Contact Us (Moultrie) wrote:CONSTANTLY JAMS. Motor works intermittently. Doesn’t throw food under pressure. Tried everything. When you stick your finger in it and spin the propeller then test it, it works. Set timer and walk away and it will not throw food when the timer engages. Sending product back.

Have used for about a month now. Clogs up very easy and as a result it cannot handle small dry feeds designed for deer feeders which I have tried. Only thing I have found that does not clog up is whole corn. Even if a little piece of debries gets mixed in the feed it will clog up which requires emptying the bucket to clean the clog. Slightly regret this purchase for that reason and did considered returning. This is not the first Moultrie feeder I have owned and is the first one I have ever been disappointed with. The reason this one clogs is the design of the direction. Also in my opinion it is under powered. The reason I have decided to keep this is because it is super easy to program, and use. Also I'm a fan of the steel bucket. My last Moultrie feeders were very reliable and lasted for years so I hope this one will too.

I give this 5 stars in its category as an inexpensive portable feeder. I've had it several months now and It works like it's supposed to. I use it to feed catfish in my pond, set to throw a few seconds morning and evening. It throws maybe 15 feet in about a 30 degree arc and has been reliable. No jams and feed drops into the spinner with no problems. But then, we don't let the feed get too low. Still working on original battery charge. Top fits well, unlike comments from other reviewers. Maybe Moultrie redesigned it? I have it hanging from a roof support beam on a covered dock and so far it hasn't been bothered by raccoons or other critters.

This feeder works great as advertised. I'm using it to feed my fish in a large pond. I love the way you can program how often and how much to feed. It throws feed approximately 15 feet in a wide spread. The only thing I would like to see changed is the lid. I would like to see the lid screw on instead of a friction type lid.I'd recommend the feed to everyone with a pond.
