Replaced all of my Moultrie plastic feeders with these since the squirrels ate through them (even though they were advertised otherwise); in fact, the squirrels also ate through the aluminum flashing I used to repair the plastic holes! This steel drum also needs the varmint guard grill around the bottom plastic thrower guard (which Amazon sells), and it needs a rust-proof lid (I use a galvanized tub on the top to keep the steel barrel lid from rusting).

Took them 3 hours to hunting camp. Assumed everything except the battery would be included. Got there and found out that neither one included the correct base to attach the spin motor. Now trying to find a place that sells the adapter.

The setup was easy and the motor/ computer unit are nice, automatically calculating the days your corn will last based on the feeding schedule you input.

I tried using it but the timing is complicated and of course I get it and deer are gone.

For what it cost a buyer shouldn’t have to start hunting around for additional parts to make a dependable feeder. First off, would it throw the company into bankruptcy to use a top that doesn’t hold water and a simplified latch design. Needing a screw driver to unscrew the latch each time is just plain stupid! Now the inside workings . . . How about Moultrie use an internal funnel that is built to actually use and function instead of just to sell! Also stupid! If the company would address these three things it might be a good dependable feeder. A funnel should be metal or thick hard plastic and cover the entire width of the barrel with enough angle to flow the corn to the opening. A center separator panel just above the opening would probably also assist in keeping corn gravity feeding toward the opening. If I’d bought it locally I’d return the darn thing simply on principle. There is absolutely no good reason why a metal barrel feeder that cost $350 shouldn’t be ready to go to the woods and provide dependable service right out of the box.

It works for the most part... I put in the funnel option but the feed continues to clog up. I have to shake it or stir it before the next scheduled feed time or the deer don't get fed. I will have to modify it in hopes it will not clog up.

Update, took almost two months to get a funnel and after thinking how bad of a connection the alligator clips seemed to be, I cut them off and installed female slipons/fastons that won't come off easily. The description is very confusing. It says it includes an adjustable funnel so I assumed it included the optional plastic funnel like the pro magnum feeder uses but no kind of funnel was included so I had to spend more money for that. The funnel is an absolute requirement or the feed will not all empty and will rot on the bottom of the barrel if left over time. After reading reviews about how bad it was to fill this feeder because of the height, I just simply did not use one box of legs and can pour a bag of corn in it while standing on the ground. I am also planning on buying a cheap 1/2 socket and ratchet to leave on the feeder to remove/install the lid so I don't have to remember to bring one every time. I might change out the bolt to a smaller one with a wing nut so no tool would be needed. Pretty sure the barrel is going to rust. It was pretty scratched up from shipping.
