I have purchased several of these as the guy mowing my lawn is not always as careful to avoid rocks as he perhaps should be. I'll have to speak to him about that. Where did I leave that mirror? They are easy to install and generally last me a couple years or so until I find another rock in my yard.I now keep a spare just to save the down time between orders. :)Yes, I will likely buy again and would recommend these should you have a lawn similar to mine. :)

Broke after three lawn cuts. Torqued to spec, easy to install, snapped like a twig!

I had a cheap mower from Menards, a Pulsar PTG1221. This came with a weird, cheap blade adapter I couldn't find a replacement for. This fit perfectly on the 7/8" shaft. It was shorter than the collar from the previous one but fits and works ok. Super easy to install. Make sure if you're buying this to replace a pre-existing adapter you have or get a blade that fits the star pattern.I've seen some people complain about durability. I could imagine if you're hitting rocks or something that might be an issue, but as far as installing it and running it no issues. Torqued to 40lbs.

Only issue is the bolt shown in the picture is not included but I can use the existing one so not a big deal. The packaging arrived opened, looks like either used or returned. But anyway it fits the mower that is what matters. Price is cheap also.

Well, for now. This fit on my mower (yard machine 21” push mower) perfectly. As far as durability I don’t know yet. Will update later if needed.

Replaced this part on my lawnmower with a techumseh engine. Was a perfect fit and works well. Don’t understand the negative reviews including buyers having to hammer on this part. Clearly not the proper part for your lawnmower and likely was damaged while installing. I also installed a new blade.

I recently hit a metal object while mowing the lawn which broke the original blade adapter on my mower. I have a feeling this cast part is designed to be the weak link to prevent catastrophic engine damage in the event of a strike. The new part looks exactly like the original and fit like a glove. Five minutes to install and I was back in business. My only gripe is that the item packaging wasn't very good. The spring was missing which required the reuse of the original. Not a big deal, but make sure you don't throw anything away if you order one of these kits.

This part looks exactly like the broken one I had on my mower. Unfortunately, it took quite some effort to get it on. I had to use a hammer to beat it into place while the old one simply slides on and off. I think this has caused my mower to make a knocking sounds. I run a lawn business so sending it back would have caused me to lose business. Luckily, I only plan to have this mower for a couple more months.

Excellent product; Fits perfectly; Small engine mechanic told me that the adapter can break if you mow over a rock or curb. Just common sense to avoid them. This is OEM from Troy-Bilt but can fit other mowers including MTD of mine. I bought a universal 22 inch replacement blade from Atlas (Canadian Tire) which fits the adapter perfectly. The confusion is that there are multiple part numbers for the same part:753-06315, 753-0588, 748-0376E, 748-0376C, 748-0376fits MTD: 46 SP, 53 SP, 383 SP, 384 SP, 410, 508, 510, E 458, GES 45 Q, GES 46, GES 53, HBM 50, M 46, RP-21, SB 46, YM 4018 S, YM 5018 S, YM 5518 SEReplaces Old Part Numbers: 748-0376 748-0376A 748-0376B 748-0376CThe curious thing is that it costs less even after exchange difference than to buy from Amazon.com and is half the price than Canadian Tire

When I was shopping for this, I agreed with the review from CJC. This part should be a mechanical fuse to prevent damage to more expensive components when you have a blade strike. After purchasing it and installing it though, I now agree with other reviewers that this casting is weak and brittle. I installed this item, and after only 30 minutes of mowing I heard a random pop coming from under the mower deck. I shut off the mower moving from my front yard to the back, and when I tried to re-start the mower, I heard a terrible racket, and the mower would not start. After that, I could not pull the start cord. I unplugged the spark plug, then lifted the mower to check underneath. I found this item split into three pcs. I did not have any blade strikes, and I know that it was not overtorqued during install. Perhaps I just got a defective one, but it seems consistent with other reviews. It must not have been a blade balance issue, because I re-installed my original one which was already cracked from a blade strike, and was able to finish the lawn. If the blade were far enough out of balance to break this one, the old cracked one certainly would not have lasted.UPDATE:I purchased another replacement adapter from another vendor to replace this one that randomly split into three. My new replacement was $4.00 more than this one, but was not labeled "Arnold Corporation" like this one is. The new replacement cam in a sealed plastic bag that was printed with the MTD logo. This Arnold one came in a clear plastic bag but did not have an MTD logo on it. The new one in the MTD bag also looked more like the original. It was not a smooth or shiny as the "Arnold" one, and did not have the "PS" letters on the casting. The new MTD (non-Arnold) adaptor has now held up through two mows with no issues. It cost me $4.00 more than this one, but is well worth the extra money.
