Big enough to hold a decent amount of stuff (and most powder containers).Small enough to not be too heavy when loaded.Water resistant and air-tight. Don't dunk it but it will keep your gear clean.Stackable with other MTM -72 crates. Size has been consistent for years so you can always add more later.Not cheap but not too expensive either.

These Ammo Crates are very Sturdy and packed full of Ammo, NO problem to stack on top of each other. I bought 6 of these and they hold a lot of Ammo and Field equipment, First aid. I think the price is a bit on the high side, but all in all very good Crates;

I'm using these for gear, more-so than for ammo storage. I got this one and the shallower version to store gear in my trunk. They're a great alternative to the big plastic bins because you're not burying everything and digging through 2 feet of junk to get to stuff on the bottom.I plan to buy more for my camping gear so I can organize it a little better and get away from the problems of burying stuff, as described above. Will be nice to keep cookware separate from flashlights, etc. Although I'm not sure I'd trust the side latches to be raccoon or critter-proof, a lock, zip tie or something similar through the holes would easily solve that problem.The pictures make it look a little deeper than I expected (yes, the listed measurements are correct) - the picture with the red cans seems to give a better perspective to depth. The picture with the tools definitely makes it look bigger than it is. I have a ballistic helmet and a couple changes of clothes stored inside, with a couple other small items.They are well built. The hinges seem durable and well built - usually those are the first things to go on these type of plastic crates. They're not SUPER heavy duty, but not cheaply made either. They're made to hold a significant weight in ammo, so as far as other gear goes, there's no issue. They snap down well and if in a trunk bed in the rain, I would expect them to keep your stuff dry. They could still be subject to temperature changes and condensation though inside - I wouldn't store expensive camera equipment or sensitive electronics in them, where climate shifts and moisture could be an issue. I think they'd do a decent job of keeping most bugs out (if storing food items) but ants seem to be able to get into anything and these aren't quite secure enough to trust against ants.But let's be clear, these are not Pelican cases - they're not water-tight or water-proof. Anyone reviewing these as such (and listing this as a negative) should not be taken seriously. For $15, you're not getting a water tight, sealed case. They're not submersible or made to float down a river behind your boat - these facts are pretty clearly listed in the description.These are good quality containers for the price, and stack well together to help with organization.

This is a sturdy, medium duty plastic ammo crate; meaning it will support a good amount of weight (as specced), but it might not survive a drop or hard tumble from 5+ feet when fully loaded so it's not heavy-extreme duty. If this describes what you're looking for, you'll love this item. I needed something marginally lockable but not massive sized for range outings in order to comply with local regulations, which would also work well as long term storage.Pros- Feels similar to the thick-walled opaque blue Rubbermaid storage bins, but a little thicker- The plastic itself is a little more flexible than the above example, seems like this will make it less likely to shatter unexpectedly- Sturdy enough to be stackable, probably 3-high at max weight before I'd get nervous.- Great handles, well-reinforced and large surface area means wearing gloves would likely cause no difficulties.- O-ring rubber seal will definitely resist moisture, and fits tightly as expected- Two padlock tabs on either side are in a great spot. Using the right locks, you can't open the top enough to see inside even with the latches open (7/8-inch shackle padlocks)- Made in USA: Comes straight out of Dayton, OH, one of our great manufacturing centers of yore. Great story of economic struggle and recovery there, if you're into those kinds of things. :)- Price: For $20, the build quality is superb and sure to be reliableConsiderations:- This is should definitely qualify as a locking container, but please understand that as it is made of plastic, it's not anti-theft.- Note on latches: I like them, and they work great, but they feel a bit less sturdy compared to the rest of the case. Never fear! They are not load bearing when the box is and probably won't ever break, just don't try to rip the top open when they're engaged.
