MulWark 6" Automatic Center Punch for Metal - Spring Loaded Center Punch Tool with Extra Replacement Tip - Adjustable Impact One-Handed Spring Puncher for Wood, Plastic, Stainless SteelI ordered this on March 11th, arrived on March 24th, via USPS, left in our mailbox, intact and undamaged.I own a fifty year old automatic center punch but the tip got a little bent over time so it does not operate correctly, have to really lean on the punch before it cycles thru. It was great when this aluminum center punch became available on Amazon because I had been meaning to replace my old center punch. The fit and finish is okay, the spring provides decent kick, material is aluminum so no rust concerns, comes with an extra tip, but this punch is huge. I suggest you tape the extra bit onto the cardboard backing from the vacuum sealed packaging and throw it into your tool box, that way it won’t get lost and you will know where it is years down the road.The spring loaded center punch allows you to establish a mark so your drill bit will not wander when first starting. Fits in your pocket or tool belt so it is readily available, but it is two inches longer and a quarter inch larger in diameter than my old center punch.The suggested MSRP is comparable to pricing at the big box hardware stores for name brand autocenter punches, so it isn’t cheap but also won’t break the bank. I am a happy camper, is a tool that I have always used. I am giving it a 4 Star rating.

This is my third Mulwark tool, they make a lot of niche but very nifty, high quality products. I have their low-profile 90 deg ratcheting screwdriver and a pair of wire strippers.This center punch is of the same quality. Well built, I tested it on 5 sheets of cardboard and unfortunately it went all the way through to make a little dent on my hardwood floors. At least it's testament that it works. Extra tip is a plus.Our use case is for sheet metal, deck boards and even wall closet assembly in new construction/gut rehab projects.Absent marking spray paint, we've used this to notch subfloors and mark out where walls will be put up.

It's a decent centering punch. Mechanism seems to work without much hiccups or issue. Build quality is on the lighter side outside of the punch pin and hammer in it, mostly the feeling of thin metal on the outside housing. Leaves nice dents in pieces of metal I have lying around and the extra pin is nice but not sure about the near $20 price this thing charges without many extra things like build quality and nicer materials.

automatic, spring loaded metal center punch is such a mouth full to say... it goes "Ka-Chunk" so it's the ka-chunker. It does pretty good. I wish it hit a little harder. If you want a deep dimple to start your drill bit, you have to hit it a couple of times. The point comes nice and sharp, but avoid anything hard, it will INSTANTLY dull the tip to nothing. Fortunately it can be sharpened back up pretty easy or replaced with the included spare tip. At 19$ at the time of writing, I don't know if I would call it price competitive, but it is a good tool.

I've got a number of center punches but I just can't seem to ever find one handy when I need it in a hurry. This looked well made so I grabbed it.The point is super sharp and it even comes with a replacement point - which I have never seen before. Usually, if the point gets dull you just try to dress it up a bit or you just get a new punch as they aren't that expensive. You do realize though, that if you ever go to replace that tip, that you're probably going to have a devil of a time remembering where you put it, right? lolOne thing I do like is the the spring is not over done. This punch can easily be sprung with a modicum of force even if you're holding it at an awkward angle, which is sometimes a necessity. Others I have you have got to apply a full force, straight shot at it to get it to trip.Nice spring loaded center punch overall. Price is reasonable. Recommended.

This is about " 6" Automatic Center Punch for Metal - Spring Loaded Center Punch Tool with Extra Replacement Tip - Adjustable Impact One-Handed Spring Puncher for Wood, Plastic, Stainless Steel", by MULWARK priced at $19 for this reviewAlmost all spring loaded center punches share the same design and parts, but they come in various sizes, with various tips (various materials, hardnesses, and geometries, and various springs), making their prices ranging from $2 to $45 (current amazon items). This one by Mulwark is a 6" priced at $19, and its closest matching competitor would be a 5" priced at $2/$3 (photo, price from current amazon listing, closest match in materials/tip/quality of manufacturing). This one is slightly bigger and has a softer secondary/punching spring (plus a couple of other very minor differences: this one comes with a second/replacement tip, which is an advantage, but then its springs and hammer-pin inside are of lower quality, which is a disadvantage, and so on), but there is nothing special in this spring-punch to justify the 6x price difference.I cannot recommend this punch. It makes more sense to go with a five-/six-times cheaper punch for the same functionality and quality; or, if there is a need for some particular functionality (e.g. high hardness, tip variety: nail setter/blunt/center/hole, etc) to look for a combination or specialty punch set.

Finally, an automatic center punch that works every time. I've had several red handle automatic punches are have been inconsistent in their performance. Sometimes they auto punch, sometimes they don't. This can be very frustrating. This is not an issue with this Mulwark punch.I tested it on a scrap piece of 2x4 stud. It consistently produced a punch dimple the perfect size for starting a drill or self tapping screw.The barrel is knurled, is easy to grasp and has a quality feel to it. I like that an extra punch tip is included.If you are looking for a high quality automatic center punch that works every time, this is a good choice.
