Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank with Sweet Iron Comfort Snaffle (MB 04) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. About the mouthpiece: the 04 mouthpiece is similar to the 02 in that it will rotate on the tongue and apply tongue pressure; however, it has a slight (¼") port that allows the horse to swallow when he is moving forward, relaxed. This port introduces some tongue relief to the horse. The bars of the bit are curved so the bit wraps the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth instead of pinching them when it rotates on to the tongue it. The curve makes more room for the horse’s tongue under the bit. The barrel in the center is the same width as the center piece on a traditional three-piece mouthpiece so applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue. However, the barrel distributes the pressure more kindly than the traditional centerpiece and creates the Independent Side Movement . The 04 provides an excellent transition from Level One to Level Two. It’s similar to the 02, but with a ¼" port that introduces tongue relief. Suitable for a wide range of horses: green horses, experienced horses entering the Myler System, horses that have been ridden exclusively in a single-jointed mouthpiece, or re-schooling horses that have not been ridden for a while. Also an excellent schooling bit for horses competing in dressage. From The Level Best for Your Horse by Dale, Ron and Bob Myler. ©Toklat Originals, Inc.

Wow outstanding. This bit gives me the leverage I need. My horse is strong willed & very hard to turn. With this bit, I put my leg on & shake my wrist. He turns. No pulling on his mouth.

Appeared to be a very nice, well made bit. I ordered a 5.5” for my Spotted Draft and it was huge! Measured over 6” (used two different measuring tapes because I thought I was nuts lol). I would recommend ordering down a size. Returning the 5.5” for a 5”.

Great value and works wonderful in my intermediate QH gelding. Transitioned nicely from a snaffle bit yet is still soft in the mouth.

Myler products are AWESOME!!! IF you notice any rust with certain bits from this company, that is how they are designed so that it increases the horse's salivation, similar to us chewing gum to help wet our mouth! Love, love, love Myler's designs and comfort for horses

I purchased a middle age horse that was ridden by inexperienced riders using a twisted wire snaffle. I learned that he was trained by an experienced trainer before the person I bought him from, took possession of him. He responded to leg cues, with spurs, and would get very nervous with the slightest mouth cue. When I bought him, he had bit issues, to say the least! He got very worked up when under saddle.I needed clear communication that didn't require complicated mechanisms and that wasn't severe to his mouth. This level Myler bit fit what I was looking for.It wasn't a magic quick fix. I put him back to ground training, developed trust, respect and gentile responsiveness first. Then began earning trust and respect in the saddle. It took about 2 weeks, after introducing this bit, to get him to relax and focus enough to trust that it would not suddenly hurt him.For those of you who would question why I didn't use a hackamore... he has pretty severe scar tissue where a halter had grown into his head and nose.Love this bit, it is working well for me and my boy. Please remember that a bit is only as good as the person holding the reign.

The 5" Myler I had was causing sores at the sides of my endurance horse's mouth--This bit fits much better--I am more than satisfied!!
