Stainless Steel 5" HBT Shank with Sweet Iron Mullen Barrel Low Port (MB 06) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. About the mouthpiece: the 06 mouthpiece is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen mouthpiece. Like the traditional mullen the 06 is also a solid curved bar that sits across the bars of the horse's mouth, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under the bit comfortably. The port is ¼" high, just enough to allow the tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. Because the port is low, the 06 doesn’t offer as much tongue relief as other Level Two-Tree mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The curved mouthpiece wraps the horse’s mouth, allowing more space for the tongue under the bit. When the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip. This mouthpiece also has Independent Side Movement . This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level Two. The 36 mouth piece offers more tongue relief when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged. For more tongue relief, see the 43LP. Using this on an Arab. It is both gentle and firm when you need it to be. He loves the sweet iron taste and readily accepts the bit. I would not use it in the hands of a child or inexperienced rider as the rider needs to have a gentle hand with this bit due the leverage it puts on the poll and the chin. I use a leather chin strap with it.

I really like this bit. My horses are pretty broke and I wanted something that was mild enough to be comfortable but still able to "take hold" for training purposes.

This bit will give you better control of your horse, but learn to have a light hand. It can be too powerful, so be sensitive to your horse and give a release when he is trying to be soft. Most riders are not trained enough to get this, it makes me shiver to think they need a stronger bit. When what they really need is more riding experience with a confident good trainer.

My gelding has this bit, and so i bought it for my mare. They both do GREAT and respond VERY well with it! keeps them tucked in, without much playing with it! Myler is the BEST!
