Ordered this as a gift for a nautical enthusiast and lover of all things sea related. I can't speak to the precision of the instrument but as a decorative piece this thing looks fantastic. It's got a great antique look and feel and is just plain fun to pick up off the shelf. Nothing is broken and every part swivels, twists, telescopes, articulates, etc. Pair this with a brass scope, divers helmet, some Melville or Jules Verne and you're good to go :)

So…full disclosure.I have no idea how to use a sextant, so I can’t comment at all on the quality or accuracy of this device as a tool.I got it as decor for my bookshelf in my office, and for that purpose it’s just great. Very heavy, cool-looking bronze. The wooden box is awesome too.Looks so cool and fun to play with.

Order as a gift 3 weeks before the graduation shipping was rescheduled ( not sure who's to blame on that) and when it does arrive it is broken and there isn't enough time for an exchange. I understand that things happen but I am far from happy .
