I don't frequently write reviews. However, I felt a moral obligation to write one for this product. The value for the price is top notch. I have done some tinkering with my guns in the past but have never adjusted rear sights due to all the talk about how difficult it is. Not with this tool. It is very intuitive but regardless, please read the online instructions first. This is not a plastic piece of junk! I read some negative reviews and believe that in most cases, if the reviewer took a bit more time to properly adjust the tool settings for their application, it would have worked fine.I used this tool to adjust the rear sight on my S&W Shield Plus as the factory setting was off. The only mod I made to the tool was to put a few pieces of painter's tape on each side of the clamp that touches the rear sight, to avoid any scratches. After removing the Allen screw holding the sight in place, I set the slide rail in the tool and calibrated the clamps to begin the process to push the sight to the left. At first, I was a bit nervous about the amount of force needed to push the sight, but that is just a reality of the process. If it required minimal force, you could just use a punch tool. I did really have to crank hard on the clamp to push this sight but it worked like a charm. (The force required has nothing to do with this tool, it is simply a matter of how tight the factory sets the sights - very common).I removed the slide and I nailed it. The rear sight was now centered less than 30 minutes after unboxing the tool, with no scratches or any damage to the sight or rail. Can I give this a 6 star review? :)If I think about the skill level required to do this, if you are capable of disassembling your gun for cleaning it, then you can successfully use this tool to push your sights.I received absolutely nothing for leaving this review. No discounted or free product or anything. Just a happy customer!!!!

I was hesitant to buy this based on the number of low reviews and the fact that NcStar does not have the best reputation. I took the plunge, figuring I could return it if it did not work. The design & function is plenty sturdy and works well. The VTUPRS has already paid for itself and perhaps the best thing about it is that you can make very minute adjustments to your sights so they are centered on your gun.My only complaint is that it should be about one inch wider to accommodate installing dovetail mounts for red dot sights. The issue is that the side clamps do not allow you to position the gun far enough to either side so that the pusher can get behind the dovetail mount for install/removal. For example, if you want to install an EGW dovetail mount on a Glock (which requires you to push to the right), you need to clamp the gun as far to the right as possible so the pusher can be as far over to the left of the mount to start pushing it. The problem is that when you unscrew the right clamp all the way to the right, the left clam cannot extend out enough to hold your gun in place. This sounds confusing, but once you try installing something wide like a dovetail mount you will immediately understand what I am saying. I was ultimately able to make it work by getting the dovetail mount about 3/4 of the way in and then using the VTUPRS to fully seat it and make sure it was even on each side.Overall, I do recommend this tool for your average hobby gun owner who wants to move sights around on guns or make adjustments without using a punch or paying a gunsmith.

System works there are a few short coming with this sight vise but once you understand its short comings and the work arounds the vise works well.******.Use your smarts phone and down load info of tool on back of box too NcSTAR.com view video of removal/install and laugh. How to use tool: De-grease and clean all screws mine had metal shaving and dirt, must have been dropped on floor in China! ******ALSO THE BASE PLATFORM HAS A 3/32 ALLEN SCREW THAT IS LOOSE SECURE IT WITH BLUE LOCTIE MORE ON THIS IN CLOSING THOUGHTS.....POOR QC IMHO1. You must secure the sight tool to a work bench or a vice! Sure you can remove factory Glock sight off easily, now try installing aftermarket sights like: Ameriglo, Angry Bear Arms,Trijcon or XS sights without having the tool secure. For the internet commandos that say you can with ease please post a video unedited.I have done it, true P.i.t.a.2. Remember you are pressing the new sight in and the dove tail slot on you side it tight use lubricate it help you install your new sight! A drop or 2 of your favorite gun oil goes a long way,I recommend Kroil oil. Also your new sight may have too much coating on its dove tail lightly polish coating with 600 grit will ease installation ****Remember*** you are polishing not removing metal! if don't know the difference look it up! that's it short and sweet.Closing thoughts would I recommend this tool? Yes I would, while not perfect it gets the job done. This tool has the potential to be a very good tool if NcSTAR installed guide pins on the Base Platform to limit platform tilt and loctited 3/32 thumb wheel screw . Look at the tool all adjustment for this tool have guide rods i.e steel rods on Top brace, side brace and sight pusher these rod aid in installation of you new sight. Since the platform adjustment or the proper name "Jack screw threads are sloppy over .040"play up/down and side to play resulting in a poor clamping pressure of your slide..So when you are installing/removing your slide walks or rolls in the direction you are installing you new sight.Maybe this is how those polymer slide block get broke. If NcSTAR installed guide rods on Base Platform this problem would be greatly reduced .

I was a bit scared by previous reviews, about how fragile are the jaws of the pushing block. I have seen a lot of bad reviews regarding Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm 2.0. I tried to remove the back sight using a punch, but I have stopped, worried that I am going to damage the sight and/or the slide.I have purchased NcStar rear sight tool and I am happy I did!I have spent more time lubing the threads and positioning columns than actually removing the sight. I have used a good quality gun grease and played the threaded rods back and forth to evenly distribute the grease. I have noticed a huge improvement in the way the holders/sight pushing block were moving/working after proper lubrication.Anyway, I have placed and aligned my M&P 2.0 slide on the tool and start pushing the rear sight carefully being ready to back off at the first sign of struggle, but after a very light reaction, the sight started to move smoothly, using only two fingers to work the pusher all the way out.I am very happy with the purchase. It will serve me well in the years to come.I hope I don't have to mention that I have removed the set screw of the sight.I would recommend this product to anyone, but would like to emphasize proper lubrication! Remember grease is better!

This is a well built low cost Pistol Rear Sight Tool. If you have a 3D printer you can make modified or custom blocks to fit any pistol. I made some blocks to fit the front sight of several of my pistols. Works GREAT!!!! Compares to some tools 3x the price. Very impressed.
