About this item

  • RELEASE WATER AWAY FROM PROPERTY: Capture water upstream and carry it away from structures and poor drainage areas to discharge with the pop-up emitter positioned downstream
  • HOW IT WORKS: The pop-up emitter works at a low point of the drainage system to discharge water collected from upstream and help protect property from water damage
  • INSTALLATION: Elbow connects to 4 in. sewer and drain pipe and 4 in. triple-wall pipe, connects to other pipe types using appropriate adapters; install with cover flush or slightly below adjacent turf to reduce potential for clipping with lawnmower
  • POPS UP TO OPEN, CLOSES WHEN FLOW DIMINISHES: Cap, or cover, lifts up as high as 1 in. once water pressure builds; flat profile design reduces trip hazard and is flush to the ground when properly installed
  • ALL-WEATHER SAFE: Small weep hole in elbow drains out any water in the pipe to prevent stagnation or freezing in cold weather

Every drainage system needs a point of release to prevent back-up issues. Use the Pop-Up Drainage Emitter to discharge water away from structures, erosion-prone landscapes, and poor drainage areas. The Pop-Up Drainage Emitter with Elbow connects to 4 in. sewer and drain pipe, and the cover “pops up” to release water when pressure builds. Cover closes once flow diminishes and stays closed when not in use to prevent debris & rodents from entering and potentially clogging the drainage system. Weep hole at bottom of elbow drains out water left in pipes to prevent stagnation or freezing in cold weather. Flat profile design blends discreetly into the surrounding landscape. Cover is made of polyethylene; elbow is made of polyvinyl chloride.
Pop-Up Drainage Emitters are a part of a complete drainage system that help with stormwater management. They work with pipes, catch basin drains, channel drains, trench drains, and drain grates to filter, capture, and convey excess water to drain pipes; the pipes carry the water downstream to discharge with a Pop-Up Emitter, or to percolate into the ground with a dry well or infiltration trench.

Works great for price but it doesn't stay in place when connected to the 4" expansion tube. So it falls off easy. Had to screw them which leaves a snag point inside.

I installed this on the end of 4 inch corrugated pipe I attached to a downspout that I buried in order to divert rainwater from an area where it would collect during downpours. It took me all of about 3 minutes to fit it onto the end of the pipe and backfill the hole. It is very sturdy - much better quality than anything I could find locally. We have had several downpours and it works great.

This is a very good product. I only needed the top piece but couldn’t find it as a standalone, so I ended up buying the top piece with the connector My daughter was able to complete the install in less than a minute. Strangely enough, I still have no clue what happened to the original top.

I've used this drain emitter in previous locations with very good results. I needed another one for a recent drainage project so this was an easy decision. It does exactly what it's designed to do -- spread drain water out gently onto a flat (or gently sloping) surface. Made of very durable material. Highly recommended.

Our previous drain cover was damaged during the process of getting a tree removed. This replacement went right into place with the existing 4-inch drain line used for our French Drain. No other hose clamps or connections were necessary to mate the elbow to our existing drain line. and the height of the elbow with the cover sits neatly at ground level.

Works like a charm. I went a bit further and actually built a dry-well, putting a 5' hole filled with rock under the emitter. Instead of the 90 degree elbow my emitter is installed on top of a 4" PVC T. I utilized the 90 at my downspout. My drainage now goes under my patio slab sidewalk. My hope is this takes me into colder weather to provide continued drainage below the frost, but I'm not certain how that will work in the dead of winter. Not much water flows in those months anyway. During heavy extended rainfall the pop-up just spills on the lawn anything my dry-well can't handle. Installed at ground level I can take the lawn mower right over it as advertised, worry free. I went to all the big hardware stores for any device like this and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. I found none of the chain stores in my area sold them or really knew what I was trying to build. No problem buying one here on Amazon though. So far, I'd recommend this device to anybody wanting to get rid of a troublesome downspout and drain sitting in a traffic area. A little work trenching, but no more tripping hazard.
